Student answer (Band 5.5)
There are different opinions regarding going to cinemas and theatres and watching entertainment online. Some people are fond of going out, socializing, and enjoying gatherings and prefer cinemas, while some people who are socially anxious, busy, and do not want to spend money preferably watch movies on online platforms. Nowadays, where life has become very digital and busy, people prefer going out and watching movies whenever they find spare time. This helps them to get a break from their hectic routine and enjoy some quality time that charges them to fulfill future commitments. Watching movies on a big screen gives people a social and immersive experience. Many people find only the weekend to have quality time with family and friends, which a 2-3-hour movie in the cinema actually provides. Many people love watching art in person and in real time, so they prefer theatres for entertainment. These shows in theatres give cultural awareness and the finest detail of art to the audience. Going to cinemas and theatres is not only a sort of enjoyment, but it also generates new artists and multiple employment opportunities for the public. Therefore, it is one of the great sources to strengthen the country's economy and art. Some people who are antisocial, hate crowds and noise, and enjoy their own company prefer online streaming. This gives them a wider choice of content, a flexible viewing schedule, multiple replay options, and a comfy environment. A long hectic week drains people's energy so much that on weekends they love staying in bed, watching their favorite show, and enjoying their favorite food. This actually saves them the cost of travel and cinema tickets, time, and energy.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
You have addressed both sides of the argument and provided your own perspective, though your opinion is somewhat implicit rather than clearly stated in an introduction or conclusion. The ideas are relevant, such as the social benefits of cinemas versus the convenience of streaming. However, the development is slightly uneven; while you mention economic benefits, this point is not fully extended with specific examples or deeper analysis. To reach a higher band, ensure your position is clearly articulated from the start and that each supporting point is fully explored with a clear link back to the prompt's core question regarding the 'importance' of these venues in the digital age.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is coherent, and the progression of ideas is generally logical. You move from the benefits of cinemas to the advantages of online streaming. However, the paragraphing is problematic; the entire response is presented as a single block of text. Proper paragraphing is essential for a high score in this criterion. Additionally, while you use some cohesive devices like 'Therefore' and 'Some people', the transition between ideas could be smoother. Using more varied linking words and phrases to connect sentences and paragraphs would improve the flow and clarity of your argument significantly.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'immersive experience', 'cultural awareness', and 'hectic routine'. There are some minor inaccuracies in word choice, such as 'generates new artists' (which is slightly unnatural; 'nurtures talent' or 'provides a platform for artists' would be better) and 'charges them' (which is informal). The vocabulary is sufficient to convey your meaning clearly, but to move into the higher bands, you should aim for more precise collocations and a wider variety of less common lexical items used with greater sophistication.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While your meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical slips, such as 'Many people find only the weekend to have quality time' (which is slightly awkward phrasing) and 'Some people... preferably watch movies' (where 'prefer to watch' would be more accurate). Punctuation is generally functional, but the lack of paragraph breaks makes the structure appear less controlled. To improve, focus on refining your complex sentence construction and ensuring subject-verb agreement and word order are consistently accurate throughout your writing.
