Student answer (Band 5.5)
Some people believe that theaters and cinemas in this digital era are not relevant as they were before, while other argue theaters and cinemas are still important in this modern era.
It is true that most of the people today do not go to theaters to watch movies, because due to digitalization most people prefer to watch movies sitting in their couch without leaving home and going to cinemas, as digital platforms like Netflix and other streaming companies made it easy and people can watch anything they want right in their smartphones or tv.
So, it is good in the sense that now people are not bounded to watch only specific movie, but they can watch any movie available there.
However, some people still prefer going to theaters, as they believe that the real experience of a movie comes only when you watch it in theater.
Furthermore, cinemas and theaters are part of our culture as people treat it like an event when a new movie releases. They go to cinemas with their families and watch movies and enjoy the time with their beloved ones and meeting new people, which is of course a better way of enjoying the event. Also, the movies still earns most of their profit from cinema and theaters.
In my view, both are good ways of watching entertainments whether its online or offline. Theaters and cinemas gives the real experience of movies and helps the movies producers to earn their profit. Whereas, online platforms let you watch anything at anytime, also you are not limited to only specific video or movie, it give you access to the enormous amount of content.
Personally, I sometimes go to cinemas when some popular movie comes out and want the experience I can't get online. As, few days ago I watched 'The Odyssey' movie in cinema for which I waited so long. While, most of the time I watch videos and movies online.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses all parts of the prompt, discussing both the decline of cinemas due to digital platforms and their ongoing cultural and economic importance. You clearly state your own opinion in the final paragraphs. However, the development of ideas is somewhat superficial. For instance, the economic argument is mentioned but not expanded upon with specific details or examples. To reach a higher band, ensure that each main point is supported by a clear explanation or a concrete example. While the position is consistent, the depth of analysis could be improved to better demonstrate a thorough understanding of the topic.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. You use some cohesive devices such as 'However', 'Furthermore', and 'In my view' to link ideas. However, the flow between sentences is occasionally mechanical, and some transitions feel abrupt. For example, the shift from discussing the convenience of streaming to the cultural value of cinemas could be smoother. Additionally, the use of referencing is sometimes repetitive, which affects the overall flow. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence would enhance the coherence of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'digitalization', 'streaming companies', and 'enormous amount of content'. However, there are instances of imprecise word choice and minor collocation errors, such as 'bounded to watch' (should be 'limited to') and 'movies still earns' (subject-verb agreement error). The vocabulary is generally functional but lacks the sophistication or precision required for higher bands. To improve, focus on learning collocations and using more academic synonyms for common words to express your ideas with greater clarity and precision.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While you attempt complex sentences, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement ('movies still earns'), article usage, and prepositional phrases ('sitting in their couch' should be 'on their couch'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with some run-on sentences and unnecessary commas. While these errors do not significantly impede communication, they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score. Focus on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy and ensuring that your complex sentences are constructed correctly to improve your control over language.
