Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0

The response is significantly under-length, containing only 100 words, which is well below the 250-word minimum requirement. Consequently, the task is only partially addressed. While the introduction attempts to outline the two opposing views and state a position, the body paragraph is incomplete and cuts off mid-sentence. Because the response fails to develop the arguments or provide the necessary depth required for an academic essay, it cannot be awarded a higher band. To improve, you must ensure you complete the essay by providing fully developed arguments for both sides and a clear, supported conclusion.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay shows some attempt at logical organization, using transition signals like 'to commence with' and 'however'. However, because the text is incomplete, it is impossible to assess the overall progression of ideas or the effectiveness of paragraphing. The lack of a completed structure means that cohesion is severely limited. To improve, focus on planning your essay structure before writing to ensure you have enough content to support your points and create a logical flow between paragraphs.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is generally appropriate for the topic, such as 'widespread belief', 'contemporary world', and 'fundamental value'. However, the range is limited due to the brevity of the response. There are minor errors, such as the lowercase 'i' for the personal pronoun and the awkward phrasing 'internet provide enormous amount entertainment'. To reach a higher band, you should aim to use a wider variety of topic-specific vocabulary and ensure consistent accuracy in word choice and basic mechanics.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains a mix of simple and some attempted complex structures. There are several grammatical errors, including subject-verb agreement issues ('internet provide') and missing articles ('at the...'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with spaces before commas and a lack of capitalization for the pronoun 'I'. Because the text is unfinished, the range of grammatical structures is restricted. To improve, focus on proofreading for basic errors like capitalization and subject-verb agreement, and practice using more complex sentence structures accurately.
