Student answer (Band 6.0)
Some argue that, nowadays, as everyone can watch all the entertainment online so theatres are not needed, Others comment that theatres are essential both economically and culturally. We know that online platforms provide cheap and easy alternatives. But cinemas give an experience memorable for life and also do justice to the creators financially. In my opinion a big event that is experienced with a big audience can never be forgotten. So I am standing with the theatres.
According to some people theatres are not essential because of its cheap and efficient alternatives available online. They have a point as in calling online media efficient and easy to access because one can watch something on his own TV rather than going to a cinema. He can also get access to hundreds of movies and series by just paying a price that he would have to pay in a cinema just to watch a single movie. For instance, consider a person who has arrived home from a hectic job. Why would he desire to go to the cinema when he can just sit on his own sofa and watch the same title without any of the extra hassle?
Some people believe that cinemas are convenient both economically and culturally. They believe that cinema give justice to a creator who had worked really hard to make a piece of content. It also help the whole economy. The cultural impact of cinema is second to none. Watching a movie with a group of people completely changes the whole experience. For example, we can watch a world cup final sitting own our comfortable sofas in our own houses. But, its never about a comfortable seat. A person who watched the match live with thousands of people will never forget the match. He will also share the story with his kids.
When I think about this, I find myself standing on with the second argument. I remember a movie that i saw in the cinema named ''Avengers Endgame''. It generated a revenue of 1.9 Billion dollars which could have never been possible if it was released on the digital media. It had been 5 years since that movie released and my cousin still regrets that he did not saw that movie in the cinema with me.
To some up, I would like to say that both of the arguments have there own strong points one prefers comfort over experience and other want to experience the craft with a shared audience. I lean towards the latter.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the prompt, discussing both views and providing a clear personal opinion. The position is consistent throughout the essay. Ideas are generally relevant, such as the economic benefits for creators and the shared social experience of cinema. However, some arguments are slightly under-developed; for instance, the economic argument regarding the 'whole economy' is mentioned but not fully explained. The personal example of 'Avengers Endgame' is a good attempt to support the argument, though it could have been more effectively linked to the broader cultural importance mentioned in the prompt. Overall, the response is well-structured and fulfills the requirements of the task.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Each paragraph has a central theme. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'For instance', 'Some people believe', and 'To some up' (a slight error for 'To sum up'). However, the transition between some sentences is occasionally mechanical, and the use of referencing could be more sophisticated. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the different viewpoints. The flow of ideas is generally smooth, allowing the reader to follow the argument without difficulty, though the connection between the economic impact and the personal anecdote could be tighter.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the student to express their ideas clearly. There is an attempt to use some less common vocabulary, such as 'hectic job', 'second to none', and 'digital media'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'standing on with' instead of 'standing by' or 'agreeing with', and 'To some up' instead of 'To sum up'. While these errors do not impede communication, they prevent the essay from reaching a higher band. A wider range of precise, academic vocabulary would improve the score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The student uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While many sentences are clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, such as 'cinema give justice' (subject-verb agreement), 'it also help' (subject-verb agreement), 'did not saw' (tense error), and 'there own strong points' (homophone error). Punctuation is generally functional, but there are some issues with comma usage and sentence boundaries. Despite these errors, the meaning remains clear throughout the essay. To improve, the student should focus on subject-verb agreement and consistent verb tense usage, particularly when discussing past events.
