Student answer (Band 6.0)
Some argue that, nowadays, as everyone can watch all the entertainment online so theatres are not needed. Others comment that theatres are essential both economically and culturally. We know that online platforms provide easy alternatives. But cinemas give an experience memorable for life. In my opinion a big event that is experienced with a big audience can never be forgotten. So I am standing with the theatres.
According to some people theatres are not essential because of their cheap and efficient alternatives available online. They have a point in calling online media efficient and easy to access because one can watch something on his own TV rather than going to a cinema. For instance, consider a person who has arrived home from a hectic job. Why would he desire to go to the cinema when he can just sit on his own sofa and watch the same title without any of the extra hassle?
Some people believe that cinemas are convenient both economically and culturally. It helps the whole economy. The cultural impact of cinema is second to none. Watching a movie with a group of people completely changes the whole experience. For example, we can watch a world cup final sitting on our comfortable sofas in our own houses. But, it is never about a comfortable seat. A person who watched the match live with thousands of people will never forget the match. It also generates a lot of money.
When I think about this, I find myself standing on with the second argument. I remember a movie that I saw in the cinema named ''Avengers Endgame''. It generated a revenue of 1.9 Billion dollars which could have never been possible if it was released on the digital media. It had been 5 years since that movie released and my cousin still regrets that he did not see that movie in the cinema with me.
To sum up, I would like to say that both of the arguments have their own strong points one prefers comfort over experience and other wants to experience the craft with a shared audience. I lean towards the latter.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the prompt, discussing both views and providing a clear personal opinion. The position is consistent throughout the essay. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. While you mention economic and cultural impacts, the arguments remain at a surface level. For instance, the economic argument is supported only by a single example of a movie's revenue, rather than a broader discussion of industry jobs or local business support. To reach a higher band, ensure that each point is fully extended with more detailed reasoning or varied examples to demonstrate a deeper engagement with the topic.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is logically organized into clear paragraphs, each with a distinct focus. There is a progression of ideas from the introduction to the conclusion. You use some cohesive devices, such as 'For instance', 'To sum up', and 'In my opinion', which help guide the reader. However, some transitions are a bit mechanical or repetitive, such as the frequent use of 'Some people' to start paragraphs. The flow between sentences could be improved by using a wider variety of linking words and ensuring that referencing (e.g., 'the latter') is used more naturally to connect ideas across paragraphs.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'hectic job', 'efficient alternatives', and 'cultural impact'. However, the range is somewhat limited, and there are instances of slightly unnatural phrasing, such as 'standing on with the second argument' or 'a movie that I saw in the cinema named'. To improve, try to incorporate more precise collocations and academic vocabulary. The current vocabulary is functional and clear, but it lacks the sophistication and flexibility required for higher band scores.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical slips, such as 'theatres are not needed' (should be 'theatres are no longer needed') and 'my cousin still regrets that he did not see that movie' (tense inconsistency). Punctuation is generally correct, but there are minor errors in article usage and preposition choice. To achieve a higher score, focus on increasing the variety of complex structures and ensuring greater accuracy in tense consistency and subject-verb agreement.
