Task 2

In this contemporary era, internet plays an integral role in our daily live's . It is often argue that the entertaining places such as theatres and cinemas are no longer prefer by people as they can watch movies and shows online . Others consider that they are still crucial for both economically and culturally. This essay will discuss both perspectives before explaining why I believe that entertainment sectors are still predominant because they provide large screen and social interactions.

On the one hand, there are plenty of contents and movies available on internet ,which people can watch for free as campare to the cinemas, where people prefer to pay for tickets and food . moreover, internet is very convenient individuals can watch films and reality shows anytime and anywhere wheather they are travelling , working and relaxing .As a result, they often save their time and money .In addition , technological gadgets such as mobile phones and computers enables people to use tools such as high- low volume and brightness , which is not possible in theatres .

On the other hand, theatres and cinemas plays an important role because it increase social interactions , entertainment and provide cultural awareness .firstly, people can spend quality time with friends and family instead of staying at home alone . Secondly, theatres can introduce people to different cultures, traditions and lifestyles through plays and performances. Another significant factor is that it increase employment as these industries create jobs for actors, directors, technicians, cleaners and other workers, also it boost the country's economy through taxes.

From my perspective, Although internet makes entertainment more enjoyable and accessible . Cinemas and theatres are equally important because they provide high quality sound and visuals, also create employment and increase social attachments.

In conclusion, online movies help people to watch economically and frequently but we can not overlook that entertaining sectors are equally crucial as they helps to enjoy movies in an interesting way and attach people culturally.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses all parts of the prompt, discussing both views and providing a clear personal opinion. The ideas are relevant, such as the convenience of online streaming versus the social and economic benefits of physical venues. However, some points are under-developed; for instance, the economic argument is mentioned briefly without specific examples or deeper analysis. The position is consistent throughout the essay, but the development of ideas could be more thorough to reach a higher band. The essay structure is appropriate for an academic task, and the conclusion effectively summarizes the main points while reiterating the author's stance.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, with a clear introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'On the one hand', 'On the other hand', 'firstly', and 'in conclusion'. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical or slightly repetitive. There are also issues with punctuation, such as spaces before commas (e.g., 'internet ,which') and inconsistent capitalization, which occasionally disrupts the flow of the text. While the progression of ideas is generally clear, the connection between sentences could be smoother to improve the overall coherence of the argument.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the student to convey their ideas clearly. There are attempts to use topic-specific vocabulary like 'contemporary era', 'integral role', and 'cultural awareness'. However, there are several word-choice errors and awkward collocations, such as 'entertaining places' instead of 'entertainment venues' and 'watch economically' instead of 'watch content cost-effectively'. Some spelling errors, such as 'wheather' for 'whether' and 'campare' for 'compared', are present. To improve, the student should focus on more precise collocations and ensure accurate spelling of common academic terms.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'theatres and cinemas plays', 'internet... enables') and pluralization (e.g., 'daily live's'). Punctuation is also a recurring issue, with inconsistent spacing around commas and periods. The use of articles is occasionally inaccurate, and some sentence fragments or run-on sentences occur. While the student attempts complex structures, the frequency of these errors prevents the writing from achieving a higher band, as they occasionally distract the reader.
