Student answer (Band 5.0)
It is often argued that some people say that in the digital age, theatres and cinemas are no longer important as people can watch all the entertainment they want. while others argued that theatres and cinemas are still important both economically and culturally, this essay will discuss both perspective before giving my opinion. On the one hand, people who support the theatres and cinemas are no longer important as people can watch all the entertainment , believe that the theatres are always important in nowdays, This is because the movies that released first came in to the cinemas, then online. for example the people who watch movies on phones can cause their eyes and body due to watching phones, the peoples should go the cinemas for movie. On the other hand, those who support that theatres and cinemas are still important , this is due to the fact that watching movies in theatre and cinemas is good for all ages, In my opinion , people should go to cinemas and theatres to watch movies or series, because watching in phone can cause a problem while watching on phone , and the other thing is that all the movies first came in the theatres and the cinemas. so the peoples have their own wish that how they want to watch as they wish, but i would like to recommend the theatres and cinemas over watching on phones. In conclusion, although people should support the cinemas and theatres over phones , I believe that watching movies in theatre and cinemas is a good option over mobile phones.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response addresses both views and provides an opinion, but the development of ideas is limited and repetitive. The arguments regarding the physical impact of mobile phones are not well-supported or relevant to the economic and cultural importance of cinemas. The essay lacks depth, as the same points about movies being released in cinemas first are repeated multiple times without further elaboration. The position is clear, but the supporting arguments are underdeveloped, preventing the essay from reaching a higher band. To improve, you should focus on providing specific, logical examples for each side of the argument, such as the social experience of cinema-going versus the convenience of streaming.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay is organised into paragraphs, but the progression of ideas is weak. While cohesive devices like 'On the one hand' and 'In conclusion' are used, they are often followed by repetitive or poorly structured sentences. The referencing is sometimes unclear, and the flow between sentences is disjointed. For example, the transition from discussing the digital age to the physical health effects of phones is abrupt and lacks logical connection. Improving the use of linking words and ensuring each paragraph focuses on a single, well-developed idea would significantly enhance the coherence of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is basic and repetitive. Phrases such as 'people can watch all the entertainment they want' and 'watching in phone' are used repeatedly, which limits the range of expression. There is little evidence of less common lexical items or an awareness of collocation. Words like 'nowdays' (a misspelling of 'nowadays') and 'peoples' (incorrect pluralization) indicate a limited control over vocabulary. To improve, you should aim to use a wider variety of synonyms and more precise academic vocabulary related to the topic of media and technology.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. There are issues with sentence structure, such as run-on sentences and comma splices (e.g., '...important in nowdays, This is because...'). Subject-verb agreement and pluralization errors are common, such as 'the movies that released' instead of 'the movies that are released' and 'the peoples'. While there is an attempt at complex structures, they are often faulty. Focusing on basic sentence construction and proofreading for common errors like article usage and verb tenses would be a good starting point for improvement.
