Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response addresses both sides of the argument and provides a personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is quite limited. For instance, the argument regarding the economic impact of cinemas is mentioned but not explained or supported with specific examples. The essay lacks depth, and the arguments are presented in a somewhat repetitive manner. To achieve a higher band, you need to expand on your points by providing concrete examples or logical explanations for why cinemas are culturally or economically significant, rather than just stating that they are.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the flow between and within them is basic. The use of cohesive devices is limited and sometimes repetitive, such as the frequent use of 'they also said' or 'in this century'. The introduction is informal and lacks a clear thesis statement that outlines the structure of the essay. While there is a logical progression from the first view to the second, the transition between ideas is mechanical, and the conclusion is very brief, failing to summarize the main points effectively.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is generally limited and repetitive. You rely on simple phrases like 'view movies', 'wastage of time', and 'goodness'. There are also issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'technology can more improved' and 'remembers us the time'. To improve, you should aim to use more precise academic vocabulary. For example, instead of saying 'viewing different type of series', you could use 'accessing a diverse range of digital content'. The range is sufficient to convey basic meaning but lacks the flexibility and precision required for higher bands.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the flow of reading. There are issues with subject-verb agreement ('is become lazy'), article usage ('a theaters'), and sentence structure ('Well it a controversial question'). The range of structures is limited, consisting mostly of simple sentences with some attempts at complex ones that are often grammatically flawed. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with comma placement. You need to focus on mastering basic sentence construction and ensuring subject-verb agreement before attempting more complex structures.
