Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response addresses the prompt by discussing both views, but the development is superficial. The student attempts to provide an opinion, but the statement '50 percent i agree or 50 percent i disagree' is unclear and fails to provide a coherent stance. The arguments provided, such as 'cinemas is a waste of time' or 'internet create many issues', are repetitive and lack depth or logical support. The response lacks specific examples or a clear, consistent position throughout the essay, which is required for a higher band score. To improve, the student should focus on developing each point with clear reasoning and examples rather than listing simple, disconnected observations.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is mechanical and sometimes inaccurate. For example, 'on the other hand' is used twice in a way that does not effectively contrast the preceding ideas. The flow between sentences is often disjointed, and the referencing is sometimes unclear. While the essay is coherent enough to be understood, the lack of sophisticated linking words and the repetitive sentence structure limit the overall flow. Improving the use of transition signals and ensuring logical progression between ideas would significantly enhance the coherence of the writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is basic and repetitive, relying on simple words like 'good', 'bad', 'things', and 'movies'. There is little attempt to use less common or academic vocabulary. Some word choices are imprecise, such as 'family level' or 'saprate time', which makes the meaning slightly unclear. The student struggles with collocations, such as 'watching movies at home with peacefully'. To achieve a higher score, the student needs to expand their range of vocabulary to include more precise, topic-specific terms related to entertainment, economics, and culture, and focus on using these words in their correct grammatical context.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that affect the clarity of the writing. There are consistent issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'cinemas is', 'students is'), article usage, and sentence structure. The range of structures is limited, consisting mostly of simple sentences. There are very few complex sentences, and those that are attempted often contain errors, such as 'cinemas and theatres is very important for watching movies'. To improve, the student should focus on mastering basic sentence construction, including correct verb forms and pluralization, before attempting more complex structures.
