Student answer (Band 5.5)
Some people think that in modern era, people lost their interest in theatres and cinemas because they can entertain them self over the internet. While the other group of peoples thinks opposite. In their opinion, theaters and cinema are more considerable even in modern world.
A group of people prefers to watch all the entertainment at home at any time without any time conditions over the internet rather than watching them in theaters or cinemas on fixed time, this way is more convenient for them to have a quality time with friends and family. Furthermore, they believe this would save fuel cost and travelling time also. Moreover, outside food is not allowed which is very uncomfortable for some peoples as they want to eat their favorite meal while watching a movie.
But some peoples think directly opposite to it, and they also want to have some outing along watching movies. They believed that some peoples don't have proper facilities to watch entertainment on internet and some peoples might prefer large screens for watching. Moreover, some of them fond of special atmosphere like the cinema environment, comfortable seats and proper sound system.
In my opinion, I choose cinema over watching entertainments on internet because new movies are mostly released in cinemas before they become available on streaming platforms. Also, cinema provides a more immerse experience. For instance, when I watched a new action movie in cinema with my friends, the large screen and surround sound made the action scenes much more exciting.
In conclusion, I would like to say watch movies at cinema with friends is more enjoyable and immersive experience than watching at home over internet.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses all parts of the prompt, discussing both views and providing a clear personal opinion. The ideas are relevant, such as the convenience of home streaming versus the immersive experience of cinemas. However, the development is somewhat limited; for instance, the point about 'proper facilities' is vague and could have been expanded with more specific examples. The position is consistent throughout the essay, and the conclusion effectively summarizes the writer's stance. To reach a higher band, the student should aim to provide more detailed explanations and perhaps a more nuanced exploration of the economic and cultural importance mentioned in the prompt.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, with a clear introduction, body paragraphs for each viewpoint, and a conclusion. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'Furthermore', 'Moreover', and 'In conclusion', though some transitions feel a bit mechanical or repetitive. The progression of ideas is generally clear, but the referencing is occasionally weak, such as the use of 'some peoples' which creates a slightly disjointed flow. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the different arguments, which helps the reader follow the writer's line of reasoning. Improving the variety of linking words would enhance the overall flow.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks range and precision. There are frequent errors in word form and collocation, such as 'entertain them self' (themselves), 'peoples' (people), and 'some of them fond of' (are fond of). The student relies on basic vocabulary like 'good', 'important', and 'enjoyable'. While the meaning is generally clear, the lack of more sophisticated or precise vocabulary limits the score. To improve, the student should focus on learning correct collocations and avoiding the pluralization of 'people' as 'peoples' in this context.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally distract the reader. Common issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'some peoples think'), missing articles (e.g., 'in cinema'), and awkward phrasing (e.g., 'watch movies at cinema with friends is more enjoyable'). While these errors do not prevent communication, they are persistent throughout the text. The student should focus on mastering basic sentence construction, particularly the use of articles and pluralization, before attempting more complex grammatical structures.
