Student answer (Band 5.5)
Cinemas and theatres are the most important pillar to promote culture of the nation. But over the time due to digital advancements, people usually do not go to these sites, they watch content online, while other people give their arguments that cinemas and theatres are important for economy and culture. This essay will discuss both perspectives and also presenting my own opinion.
On the one hand, People spend most of their time as watching content on their mobiles or other devices. In recent times, many popular video stream app came in market and provide same content in less expense than cinema with convenient to watch at any place. Due to these benefits people make assumption that cinemas or other cultural centers are not important now. For instance, monthly subscription of popular apps like netflix is lower than the price of a cinema movie ticket.
On the other hand, People argue that cinema and theatres are still important because they provide a place where you spend time with your loved ones and also getting quality content. People mostly go to cinemas not just to watch movie, but to spend their weekend time with family and friends. The ambience and atmosphere at the hall also gives you positive energy that you did not get while watching online at home. This also promotes economic activity in the country and also promote culture more systematically than online.
In conclusion, many people watch content online but the climate you feel in cinema is matchless, in my opinion, cinemas and theares are still very much important because they promote economy of your country and it is also very much regulated to promote culture rather than just promoganda.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The essay addresses all parts of the prompt, discussing both views and providing a clear personal opinion. The ideas are relevant, such as the cost-effectiveness of streaming versus the social experience of cinemas. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat superficial. For instance, the economic and cultural arguments in the third paragraph are mentioned but not fully explained or supported with specific examples. To reach a higher band, you should expand on how exactly cinemas contribute to the economy or how they preserve culture compared to digital platforms. The position is consistent throughout, but the depth of analysis is limited.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is logically organized into clear paragraphs, each with a distinct focus. You use basic cohesive devices like 'On the one hand' and 'In conclusion' to signal the structure. However, the flow between sentences is sometimes mechanical, and the use of cohesive devices is repetitive. For example, the transition between the benefits of streaming and the conclusion could be smoother. Referencing is generally clear, but some sentences feel slightly disjointed due to limited variety in linking words. Improving the use of referencing and substitution would help the text flow more naturally.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing you to express your ideas clearly. You use some topic-specific terms like 'digital advancements', 'video stream app', and 'ambience'. However, there are several instances of awkward phrasing or incorrect word choices, such as 'climate you feel' (instead of 'atmosphere') and 'promoganda' (a spelling error). The range is somewhat limited, and you rely on simple descriptors. To improve, try to incorporate more precise collocations and academic vocabulary to demonstrate a wider range of lexical control.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with articles ('the nation', 'in market'), subject-verb agreement ('many popular video stream app came'), and prepositions. Some sentences are slightly clunky, such as 'people usually do not go to these sites, they watch content online'. While these errors do not impede communication, they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score. Focusing on proofreading for basic errors and varying your sentence structures would be beneficial.
