Student answer (Band 5.5)
In the contemporary era, people like to watch movies on online application over to go cinemas. On that note, numerous pupils says that, multiplexs and cinemas are no longer dominant as individuals can watch all the shows they want online. This essay will not only discuss both the views but my perspective will also be presented further.
There are many reasons provided by the people who support the former view. To begin with, todays generation are mostly active on mobile phone. They do most of their work by phone they believe that they can watch any movie anywhere and anytime and they can also pause them so individual believe that it is convenient. Moreover, nowadays people do not have time because they spend most of their time on work or at office so they do not get enough time to go cinema because it require 3 to 4 hours to watch a film. For Example, after completing 10 hours job shift people need time for relaxation as well as for family so they do not go for cinema.
On the other hand, theatres and cinemas are still important for both economically and culturally. Firstly, watching movie in theatres is a thrilling experience which we can not get by watching on phone or TV and watching movies in theatres will be beneficial for countries economy because they bring so much affect on film industries. Furthermore, theatres helps people to watch different culture movie which help people to know other culture tradition and languages.
In conclusion, some individuals think that cinema are no longer important due to rapid innovation in technology and people do not have time for cinema. However, my opinion favours the fact that cinemas still important because it will help to increase economy of government and help people to know other culture and tradition.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses all parts of the prompt, discussing both views and providing a clear personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the argument regarding the economic impact of cinemas is mentioned but lacks specific detail or depth, remaining quite general. While the position is clear throughout, the supporting points could be more thoroughly extended to reach a higher band. The essay meets the requirements of the task, but the analysis remains at a surface level, which is characteristic of a band 6 performance.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, each with a central topic. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'To begin with', 'Moreover', and 'On the other hand', which help guide the reader. However, some transitions feel mechanical, and there are instances where the flow is slightly disjointed due to grammatical errors. Referencing is generally clear, but the logical progression within paragraphs could be smoother. The structure is sufficient to follow the argument, but it lacks the sophisticated, unobtrusive cohesion required for higher bands.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing the student to communicate their ideas effectively. There are attempts to use topic-specific vocabulary like 'contemporary era', 'multiplexs', and 'rapid innovation'. However, there are several inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'bring so much affect on film industries' instead of 'impact' or 'influence', and 'different culture movie' instead of 'culturally diverse films'. The range is sufficient for the task, but the errors in word formation and collocation prevent a higher score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors, including subject-verb agreement issues ('numerous pupils says', 'theatres helps'), missing articles ('go cinema', 'increase economy of government'), and punctuation errors. While these errors do not impede communication, they are persistent throughout the text. The student demonstrates an attempt at complex structures, but the lack of accuracy in these attempts limits the score. More attention to basic grammar rules and sentence construction is needed.
