Student answer (Band 5.5)
Entertainment is very important to live a happy life. Some people say that in today digital age theatres and cinemas are no longer important because people see entertainment online on their mobile phone. Other says that theatres and cinemas are still important both for wealth and traditional. First, I discuss both views then I give my on view.
On the one hand, the people who said that theatres and cinemas are no longer important said that nowadays people are not have enough time to go to theatre instead they watch this movie online. Also, now there are many websites like Netflix and Movie box in which you get all latest films and movies. Additionally, due to busy schedule mostly people like to spend their time with their family. Moreover, mostly theaters and cinemas are in bad condition and the cinemas who are in good condition have secret cameras so there are not have any privacy while in home they are easily watch movie with their family.
On the other hand, the people who said that theatres and cinemas are still important economically and culturally said that theatres and cinemas are part of our culture. Some dramas, movie and films are not uploaded online you can only watch these in cinemas and theatres.
In opinion I would like to say that theatres and cinemas are no longer important because of busy routine and the price of ticket are also high that why I prefer watch entertainment online.
In conclusion, I think government should need to update cinemas and check regularly that there are not have any secret camera.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses all parts of the prompt, discussing both views and providing a clear personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is limited. For instance, the arguments regarding economic and cultural importance are very brief and lack specific examples or depth. The conclusion introduces a new, irrelevant point about government regulation of secret cameras, which does not contribute to the discussion of the importance of cinemas. To improve, you should expand on your arguments with more detailed explanations and relevant examples, ensuring that your conclusion focuses on summarizing your main points rather than introducing new, tangential ideas.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. You use some basic cohesive devices like 'On the one hand', 'On the other hand', and 'Moreover'. However, the flow between sentences is sometimes mechanical, and the logical progression is hindered by repetitive phrasing and grammatical errors. The transition between the discussion of the two views and your own opinion is abrupt. To reach a higher band, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and ensure that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence that connects logically to the next.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary used is generally adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision required for a higher score. You rely on simple, repetitive language such as 'important', 'good', and 'bad'. There are also some awkward collocations and word choices, such as 'wealth and traditional' instead of 'economic and cultural significance'. To improve, try to incorporate more academic vocabulary and synonyms to avoid repetition. Focus on using words that are appropriate for a formal essay context rather than conversational or overly simplistic terms.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Common issues include subject-verb agreement ('people are not have', 'cinemas who are in good condition'), missing articles, and incorrect verb forms ('they are easily watch'). The sentence structures are mostly simple or contain errors when attempting complex constructions. To improve, focus on mastering basic subject-verb agreement and the correct use of auxiliary verbs. Proofreading for common errors like 'there are not have' (which should be 'there are no') will significantly improve the accuracy of your writing.
