Student answer (Band 6.0)
With the growing internet facilities, some people claim that importance of cinema has mitigated as population can stream movies and tv shows on various online platforms. While others argue that theatres are crucial in terms of balancing economy and maintaining the tradition. This essay will discuss both the perspectives and give my own opinion in the end.
On the one hand, nowadays with advancement there are numerous OTT platforms that provides an opportunity to individuals to watch shows and movies in their homes relaxing on their sofas. The primary benefit of this is that it is cost-effective because they don't have to pay for expensive tickets. To be more precise, instead of spending money for every individual of the family they can buy subscriptions for whichever application of their choice and steam according to their time preference. Moreover, there is not rush to the ticket-window for advance booking in fear of getting sold-out. For instance, applications like Netflix and Amazon Prime offers unlimited streaming of latest films and series in HD and also have options for monthly/yearly plans.
On the other hand, there are cinemas, specially designed to watch movies on huge screen and with audio system. They give an ambiance worth experiencing and perfect spot to spend some quality time with loved ones. Furthermore, the infrastructure gives and environment where an individual can relax and have fun without any outer disturbance. To examplify, NY cineplex is movie theater with exclusive recliner chairs, sound proof walls, Dolby atoms audio and good air conditioning where everyone can enjoy blockbuster films.
To conclude, though online entertainment platforms are cheaper but the fact remains that cineplex are irreplacable because they provide best audio-visual experience.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the prompt, discussing both views and providing a clear personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat uneven. While the advantages of online streaming are well-explained, the economic and cultural importance of cinemas—mentioned in the prompt—is largely neglected in the second body paragraph, which focuses almost exclusively on the physical experience and comfort of a cinema. To reach a higher band, you should ensure that the 'economic' aspect mentioned in the prompt is explicitly addressed, perhaps by discussing the jobs created by the film industry or the impact on local businesses. The conclusion is brief and could be more effectively used to summarise the main arguments.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is logically organised with a clear introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the two opposing views. Cohesive devices such as 'On the one hand', 'On the other hand', 'Moreover', and 'To conclude' are used to guide the reader through the argument. However, some transitions are slightly mechanical, and the flow between sentences could be improved by using more varied referencing. For instance, the transition into the example in the third paragraph is a bit abrupt. Overall, the progression of ideas is clear, and the structure supports the reader's understanding of the argument.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, including terms like 'cost-effective', 'subscription', 'ambiance', and 'blockbuster'. There are some minor inaccuracies in word choice, such as 'mitigated' (which usually refers to reducing the severity of something rather than its importance) and 'steam' (a typo for 'stream'). Additionally, 'To examplify' is a non-standard construction; 'For example' or 'To illustrate' would be more appropriate. While you attempt to use some less common vocabulary, the precision is occasionally lacking. Expanding your range of collocations and ensuring accurate word usage will help you achieve a higher score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, such as subject-verb agreement issues ('platforms that provides', 'Amazon Prime offers'—should be 'provide' and 'offer'), and minor punctuation or article errors ('the importance of cinema', 'in an environment'). Despite these errors, the meaning is always clear, and the mistakes do not impede communication. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement and ensure that complex sentences are constructed with greater accuracy. You have a good foundation, but more consistent control over these structures is needed to move into the higher bands.
