Student answer (Band 6.0)

FEW PEOPLE SAY THAT IN THE ERA OF DIGITAL WORLD, THEATEATRES AND CINEMAS ARE NO LONGER IMPORTANT AS PEOPLE HAVE THE ACCESS OF ONLINE PLATFORMS. OTHERS ARGUE THAT THEATRES AND CINEMAS ARE STILL IMPORTANT IN TERMS OF ECONOMICALLY AND CULTURALLY. IN THIS ESSAY BOTH THE VIEWS WILL BE DISCUSSED, FURTHERMORE WHY I BELIEVE ONLINE PLATFORMS ARE BETTER THAN CINEMAS.

ON THE ONE HAND, IN TERMS OF DEVELOPMENT, DIGITAL WEBSITES ARE GETTING ADVANCE AND PEOPLE WANTS TO EXPERIENCE MULTIPLE GENRE AT THEIR HOME, ADDING TO THIS IT'S LESS EXPENSIEVE AND MORE CONVENIENT AS ACCOUNTS CAN BE TRANSFERRED TO DIFFERENT DEVICES. PEOPLE CAN GET ENTERTAINED WITHOUT ANY DISTURBANCE FROM SOMEONE ELSE. FOR AN EXAMPLE, WATCHING A MOVIE IN NETFLIX CAN BE MORE COMFORTABLE COMPARED TO CINEMAS, AS ITS PORTABLE AND MUCH MORE RANGE OF SHOWES TO SELECT.

ON THE OTHER HAND, THEATRES HOLDS AN IMPORTANT ROLE IN TERMS OF ECONOMICALLY AND CULTURALLY ASWELL. CINEMAS ARE THE ROOTS FOR MANY INDUSTRIES AND FILM ACTORS SUCH AS, CAFES, RESTAURANTS AND CINEMA STAFF. LARGE SCREEN HAVE A MAJOR CONTRIBUTION IN TERMS OF EXPERIENCE WHICH IS NOT RESIVED AT HOME.WATCHING A FILM WITH A LARGE AUDIENCE, FOR EXAMPLE, CAN CREATE EXCITEMENT AND EMOTIONAL INVOLVEMENT, WHILE THEATRES PRESERVE TRADITIONAL FORMS OF PERFORMING ARTS AND ENCOURAGE PEOPLE TO EXPERIENCE CULTURE COLLECTIVELY.

IN CONCLUSION, ALTHOUGH THEATRES AND CINEMAS ARE STILL IMPORTANT FOR CULTURAL AND SOCIAL EXPERIENCES, I BELIEVE THAT ONLINE ENTERTAINMENT IS MORE BENEFICIAL BECAUSE IT IS MORE CONVENIENT, AFFORDABLE, AND OFFERS A WIDER VARIETY OF CONTENT THAT PEOPLE CAN ACCESS FROM ANYWHERE.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses all parts of the prompt by discussing both views and providing a clear personal opinion. The ideas are relevant, such as the convenience of online platforms versus the cultural and economic importance of cinemas. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the economic argument regarding 'cafes and restaurants' is mentioned but not fully explained or supported with specific detail. The essay maintains a consistent position throughout, which is a strength, but the depth of analysis could be improved to reach a higher band by providing more nuanced examples or deeper reasoning for the points raised.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the two opposing views. Cohesive devices such as 'On the one hand', 'On the other hand', and 'In conclusion' are used to guide the reader. However, some transitions are slightly mechanical, and there are minor issues with referencing, such as the phrase 'both the views will be discussed', which is slightly unnatural. Overall, the progression of ideas is clear, and the structure supports the reader's understanding of the argument.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the student to express their ideas clearly. There are some attempts at less common vocabulary, such as 'collectively' and 'preserves', but there are also several word choice errors and awkward collocations, such as 'digital websites are getting advance' (should be 'advancing') and 'much more range of showes' (should be 'a wider range of shows'). Spelling errors like 'EXPENSIEVE' and 'RESIVED' are present, though they do not significantly impede communication. A wider range of precise vocabulary would be needed for a higher score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the student attempts complex sentences, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement ('theatres holds', 'people wants') and prepositional usage ('in terms of economically'). Punctuation is generally functional, but there are some issues with spacing and capitalization (the entire essay is in uppercase, which is not standard). Despite these errors, the meaning remains clear throughout the response. To improve, the student should focus on subject-verb agreement and ensure consistent grammatical accuracy in more complex structures.
