Student answer (Band 5.5)

Everyone in this world has a right to freedom of speech thus allowing them to present their own perspective on a particular thing or a topic which allows for a friendly debate or argument.Every person in this world has their own point of view about a specific topic such as the importance of theaters and cinemas in this digital world.

Many people propose that in this modern era of technology theaters and cinemas have lost their importance and are no longer significant as people can easily watch any sort of entertainment online whenever they desire to, whereas a different group of people tend to disagree with this statement as they argue that theaters and cinemas still have that spark left in them which is important for our culture and economy and as a result a valid argument from both sides has been started.

If you ask me for my opinion cinemas and theaters are still important as they are a hub of entertainment industry and without them the entertainment sector is incomplete as they are a major source of income for different people and they are a platform which allows for people to hang out and watch anything together hence allowing for socializing and promoting a friendly atmosphere, apart from this cinemas are the only platform which provide the audience with latest sorts of entertainment as one can't find any latest movie or show anywhere else other than a theater.

Along with these plus points, these both hubs also have some negative areas such as the tickets for any latest show are not relatively cheap so people prefer to watch it at home in their cozy environment because they donot have to travel specifically to watch a movie somewhere and they can just watch it at home online.Another Slight disadvantage of cinema is this when a movie is released many people want to watch that particular movie hence there is a lot of rush in cinema halls which is not ideal for some people so they prefer to watch it online at home.

Everybody in this world is different and you can't just impose anything on them which you like or dislike so you have to watch out for their preferences as well, because maybe you like something and other people don't so in the end it entirely depends on people as how they want to watch any movie or show.If they want to watch it online they can watch it online if they want to go to the cinemas with their friends and family members they can hangout their so we should just respect everyone's desicion and live our life to the fullest.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses both sides of the argument and provides a clear personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat superficial. For instance, the economic and cultural importance mentioned in the prompt is only briefly touched upon, and the arguments regarding the 'negative areas' of cinemas are somewhat repetitive. The essay relies heavily on general statements rather than specific, well-developed examples. While the task is addressed, the depth of analysis is limited, which prevents it from reaching a higher band. To improve, you should focus on expanding your arguments with more concrete evidence or logical reasoning rather than repeating the same points in different ways.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the flow between ideas is often mechanical. You rely on basic transitions like 'Apart from this' and 'Along with these plus points', which can feel repetitive. Some sentences are overly long and run-on, such as the opening paragraph, which makes the progression of ideas feel slightly cluttered. While the essay is coherent overall, the use of cohesive devices is not always sophisticated or varied. Improving the use of linking words and ensuring each paragraph has a clear, singular focus would help the logical progression of your argument.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but it lacks the precision and variety required for a higher band. You use common phrases like 'in this world', 'any sort of', and 'latest sorts of', which are quite informal and repetitive. There is an attempt to use some topic-specific vocabulary (e.g., 'entertainment industry', 'digital age'), but the range is limited. To improve, try to incorporate more academic collocations and avoid overusing generic words like 'things' or 'stuff'. Focus on using more precise terminology related to the media and economic sectors.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent errors in punctuation and sentence construction. For example, there are several run-on sentences where ideas are joined without proper punctuation, such as '...and they are a platform which allows for people to hang out and watch anything together hence allowing for socializing...'. Additionally, there are minor errors in article usage and subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'these both hubs'). While these errors do not significantly impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. Focus on using shorter, clearer sentences and proofreading for punctuation.
