Student answer (Band 5.5)

In this contemporary era, The technology advancements has change the way of people in watching films as they introduce numerous apps for watching films and web series by taking subscription, which is of lower price. Some individuals assume that cinemas and theatres are no longer required. while, others assume that theatres and cinema plays prominent role by economically and culturally. This essay will not only, elaborate the both opinion but also, my point of view will be included in the conclusion.

Commencing with most salient reason why people thinks that cinemas and theatres are not required more. Firstly, In this digital era, the developers are offering several apps by which it became easier to watch the films and drama online while sitting at home.

moreover, the apps only charge some subscription fees which enables individuals to watch films. Whereas, they area also offering varieties of drama with just one subscription. Further it can be downloaded to watch at any time. However, The majority of population are preferring online platforms instead of cinemas for their entertainment purpose. the people thinks that to watch films in cinemas are not worth it because it include transpotation cost and parking fees for just watching particular film instead, the online platforms where they can offer numerous films options and can be seen at any time and at anywhere.

on the other hand, Other believe that cinemas are playing significant role in the economy. as the movies are played on huge screen by which people enjoy it very easily. moreover. the proper sound music are installed in theatres which enhances the joy of the customers and they are satisfied with it and also the comfortable seating arrangements are installed so that individuals can watch movie without any problem or difficulty. For instance, The majority of cinemas are operated by government which means that it contributes to the GDP of the

country.

In conclusion, according to my point of view the cinemas are more important because the experience we get in the theatres cannot be given by online platforms as they big screen with full hd print and proper sound system.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses both sides of the argument and provides a clear personal opinion in the conclusion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the economic argument regarding the GDP is mentioned but not fully explained or supported with a clear link to how cinemas specifically bolster the economy beyond government operation. The points regarding online platforms are relevant but repetitive. To reach a higher band, you should aim to extend your arguments with more specific examples or deeper analysis of the 'cultural' importance mentioned in the prompt, which was largely overlooked in your body paragraphs.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate. For example, 'while, others assume' is grammatically incorrect and disrupts the flow. There are also issues with punctuation, such as starting sentences with lowercase letters ('moreover.', 'the people thinks') and using full stops where commas are required. While the progression of ideas is generally logical, the lack of sophisticated linking words and the frequent errors in sentence boundaries make the cohesion feel somewhat disjointed.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'contemporary era', 'salient', and 'subscription'. However, there are frequent errors in word choice and collocation that occasionally impede clarity, such as 'the technology advancements has change' (should be 'technological advancements have changed') and 'proper sound music' (should be 'high-quality sound systems'). The vocabulary is often repetitive, relying on basic structures to describe the benefits of cinemas. To improve, focus on using more precise collocations and ensuring that your word forms (nouns vs. verbs) are accurate.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there is a high frequency of grammatical errors. Subject-verb agreement is a recurring issue, such as 'the people thinks' and 'cinemas and theatre plays'. There are also persistent errors with articles ('the' is often missing or misused) and verb tenses ('has change'). Punctuation is a significant weakness, with many sentences incorrectly fragmented or joined. While the meaning is generally clear, the high density of basic grammatical errors prevents the essay from reaching a higher band score.
