Student answer (Band 6.0)

Nowadays, importance of cinemas is one of the most commonly discussed topic among the people. Both communities have right evidences to prove their importance and unimportance of cinemas. But I think cinemas are still important for our culture and economy.

Initially, the real worth of cinemas are not same as it was before because of different online steaming platforms and different OTTs like Netflix and Prime video. These platform provides a wide range of movies or web series which we can watch easily by sitting at our home and there is no need to go outside for watching a movie you like. These platform reshape the digital content culture forever by making this more convenient. As a result, these platform are way more cheap and convenient as compare to cinemas.

Secondly, the cinemas are those who reflects a very deep culture of films and before 30 years ago these cinemas had a very major effect economy as well. The cinemas provides a very deep insight of the film culture and whenever you watch a movie you bought a ticket which is contributing in our economy and not like the OTT platforms which are owned by the foreign countries. As a result , cinemas are contributing ion our economy also capable of reflecting our culture as well.

In conclusion, watching movie on an OTT or in cinema is your personal choice but I think watching movie in cinemas is more beneficial for the economy of your country and also represent a very glamorous film culture of your country to the world.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses all parts of the prompt, discussing both views and providing a clear personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. While you mention the convenience of online platforms and the economic/cultural value of cinemas, the arguments lack depth and specific examples. For instance, the claim that cinemas contribute to the economy is stated but not supported with concrete evidence or logical elaboration. To reach a higher band, ensure that each main point is fully extended with clear explanations or illustrative examples. The position is consistent throughout, but the overall development remains somewhat superficial.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear progression of ideas. You use basic cohesive devices such as 'Initially', 'Secondly', and 'In conclusion' to signal the structure. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical, and there are instances where the flow between sentences could be smoother. For example, the transition between the discussion of OTT platforms and the economic impact of cinemas feels abrupt. Additionally, some referencing is slightly unclear, such as the use of 'these' to refer to broad concepts. Improving the variety and sophistication of your linking words would enhance the overall coherence.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing you to convey your meaning clearly. You use some topic-specific terms like 'digital content culture', 'OTT platforms', and 'economic impact'. However, there are several instances of awkward phrasing and word choice errors, such as 'right evidences' (evidence is uncountable), 'way more cheap' (should be 'much cheaper'), and 'contributing ion our economy' (typo). The range of vocabulary is somewhat limited, and there is a reliance on simple descriptors. To improve, focus on using more precise collocations and ensuring that word forms are used correctly in context.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors that affect the accuracy of the writing. Common issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'worth of cinemas are', 'cinemas are those who reflects'), article usage, and minor punctuation errors. While these errors do not significantly impede communication, they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score. To improve, pay closer attention to subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles. Practicing the construction of more complex sentences while ensuring grammatical precision will help you move up the band scale.
