Student answer (Band 6.0)

In the today's digital era theatres and cinemas still considered important but some people believes that they are now not that crucial because anyone can watch that things on internet. We will consider both the points and I will provide my opinion on this.

On the one hand, it is strongly believed by people that internet replaced the theatres and cinemas which can be true as young people is now considering internet on everything. They are becoming totally dependent on internet by forgetting the outside world and the things which was developed by our ancestors. Digital instruments are good to use in right direction but they have great worse impact on today's generation. Any new movie come it is available on internet so people watch it there rather going to cinemas which makes reduce the use of theatres and cinemas.

On the other hand, people argues that cinemas and theatres are a good source both as economically and culturally because it makes people unite and bring great emotions together but when we watch it alone at home it is not that interesting and joyful. It is also a great source of entertainment for our ancestors because at that time digital technology is not that improved so it also connect us culturally.

To observing both the side, it can be concluded that we have to use the digital technology in good things but we have to also maintain our culture that our parents gifted us. Cinemas and theatres are not only place where we can watch movies but it is the feelings and emotions of several people arrive there so, to connect with their heart and feeling well should enjoy the movies in cinemas and theatres rather than watching alone at home.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses both sides of the argument and provides a clear personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the argument regarding the economic and cultural importance of cinemas is repetitive and lacks specific examples or depth. The points made about the internet's impact are general and could be better supported with concrete illustrations. While the task is fully addressed, the supporting arguments remain at a surface level, which prevents the response from reaching a higher band. To improve, ensure that each paragraph contains a well-developed explanation rather than just stating general observations.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, with a clear introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Cohesive devices are present, such as 'On the one hand' and 'On the other hand', but they are sometimes used in a mechanical or slightly unnatural way. The progression of ideas is generally clear, though the transition between sentences within paragraphs can be abrupt. Referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the phrase 'watch that things', which lacks a specific antecedent. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring smoother transitions between sentences would enhance the overall flow.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks the precision and variety required for higher bands. There are several instances of awkward phrasing and word choice, such as 'great worse impact' and 'make reduce the use'. The student relies on basic vocabulary and struggles with collocations, such as 'watch that things' instead of 'watch such content'. While the meaning is generally conveyed, the lack of sophisticated or precise language limits the score. Incorporating more topic-specific vocabulary related to media, culture, and economics would significantly improve the lexical range.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout. Common issues include subject-verb agreement ('some people believes', 'young people is'), article usage ('in the today's digital era'), and tense inconsistencies ('at that time digital technology is not that improved'). While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to be noticeable and demonstrate a lack of control over complex structures. To improve, focus on mastering basic subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles and prepositions.
