Student answer (Band 6.0)
Nowadays digital media has made many things so much accessible that from movies to books, basically, anything could be done only if you have an internet connection.
Previously, people preferred cinemas and theatre's since it was really new and amazing concept. It was a time for people to hangout with their friends, family and other people to relax from their daily hectic life to this. Moreover, it was pretty cheap at that time and even today people make plans to hangout with friends or family by going to a theatre to watch movie with them. Apart from cultural significance, it still generates good revenue as people from all ages watch movies so more tickets sold hence generating a good profit.
However, in modern times, as technology has advanced the need to go to a theatre or cinema to watch a movie has been reduced. Most of the websites like Pirate Bay, or vts upload movies just a few days after their official release, that too without any cost anyone could download them and watch the movie in high resolution, basically saving money. Moreover, I could watch a movie online and for free literally anywhere like in my washroom, in my bed room while i am about to sleep, or even while I’m doing my workout.
Therefore, I conclude that theatres and cinemas are no longer that important since I could just watch the movie anywhere literally. Furthermore, if I don’t like the movie I won’t feel like I have wasted my money and time, and I don’t have to sit at one place for straight 2 hours as thats the average time of movies nowadays, I could just turn off the movie.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses both views and provides a clear personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat uneven. While the economic and cultural importance of theatres is mentioned, it is not explored in depth. The argument against theatres relies heavily on personal convenience and illegal streaming, which limits the scope of the discussion. To reach a higher band, you should provide more balanced, academic arguments regarding the social or community value of shared cinematic experiences versus the convenience of digital platforms. The conclusion is clear, but the overall development lacks the depth required for a higher score.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. You use some cohesive devices such as 'Moreover', 'However', and 'Therefore' to link ideas. However, the flow between sentences is occasionally mechanical, and some transitions feel repetitive. For example, the shift between the second and third paragraphs could be smoother to better contrast the two viewpoints. Referencing is generally clear, but the structure of the arguments within the paragraphs could be more sophisticated to improve the overall progression of the essay.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing you to express your ideas clearly. You use some relevant terms like 'digital media', 'cultural significance', and 'revenue'. However, the range is somewhat limited, and there are instances of informal phrasing, such as 'hangout' (which is a phrasal verb/noun, not a verb) and 'basically'. To improve, try to incorporate more precise, academic vocabulary related to the topic, such as 'accessibility', 'technological advancement', or 'cinematic experience', and avoid colloquial expressions that are better suited for informal speech.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, such as 'theatre's' (incorrect possessive/plural usage), 'watch movie' (missing article), and 'that too' (informal). Additionally, there are punctuation issues, such as the comma splice in the first sentence and the informal use of 'I'm' and 'don't'. While these errors do not prevent the reader from understanding your message, they occur frequently enough to impact the overall accuracy. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and article usage will help improve your score.
