Student answer (Band 6.0)
People's opinions on entertainment can be a topic of debate. Some think that theatres and cinemas have no scope beyond entertaining people and they can get similar experience by watching online, but the others argue that theatres and cinemas are not only important for entertainment but also to boost economy and represent culture.
Since the introduction of OTT's and online content, people have a distinct opinion on the importance of cinema and theatres. Some argue that they serve no importance because of the online entertainment applications. I do not agree with this because although online cinema can save a few bucks but the real experience comes from a theatre or a cinema hall. For example, I find it boring to watch a movie online. I would rather watch it along with my friends at a movie theatre because it is more fun.
Watching a movie at a theatre not only has a better experience but it also helps economically. Moreover, theatres can also play a part in representing a culture. The theatres are important economically because they provide employment opportunities for many and they also support local businesses. For instance, when a movie is played at a cinema hall, we purchase a ticket for money. Similarly some people like to buy some snacks during intervals. These small activities contribute towards boosting economy. Local artisans can also sell their produce at this place because of the crowd.
Therefore we can conclude that although online entertainment can be convenient for some, the theatre experience plays a major role in boosting economy and representing culture. I believe that digital advancements will not be affected on theatres and cinemas because the experience they provide cannot be matched by online mode.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses both sides of the argument and provides a clear personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. While you mention economic and cultural benefits, the points are quite general. For instance, the claim that 'local artisans can sell their produce' at a cinema is a bit tenuous and lacks a strong logical connection to the core argument. To reach a higher band, ensure that your supporting examples are more robust and directly relevant to the prompt. The conclusion is clear, but the overall depth of analysis could be improved by exploring the cultural aspect in more detail beyond just mentioning it.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. You use some cohesive devices such as 'Moreover', 'For instance', and 'Therefore', which help the flow of ideas. However, the transition between the second and third paragraphs is slightly abrupt. Additionally, some referencing is a bit mechanical, and the paragraphing could be more sophisticated. The progression of ideas is generally clear, but some sentences feel slightly disconnected, which prevents the essay from achieving a higher score in this criterion. Ensure that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence that links back to the main prompt.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, such as 'digital advancements', 'employment opportunities', and 'convenient'. However, the range is somewhat limited, and there is a tendency to use repetitive or simple phrasing, such as 'no scope beyond entertaining' or 'save a few bucks'. To improve, try to incorporate more precise academic collocations and less common lexical items. For example, instead of 'save a few bucks', use 'cost-effective' or 'economical'. The vocabulary used is sufficient to convey your meaning clearly, but it lacks the flexibility and precision required for higher bands.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While your meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical errors, such as 'digital advancements will not be affected on theatres' (should be 'affected by') and 'the others argue' (should be 'others argue'). Additionally, there are minor issues with article usage and prepositional phrases. While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of prepositions in complex sentences. Proofreading for these small slips would significantly enhance your accuracy.
