Student answer (Band 6.0)
It is often argued in today's digital age, whether cinemas are still any important as the present day OTT platforms has all the flavours to offer at the comfort of your home. I believe, online platforms are a great way to enjoy entertainment, but the cultural significance and value of a cinema going experience is at a much higher level.
Firstly, the generation today keeps convinence and comfort as their top-most priority to which the online platforms perfectly caters. It also provides the viewers with the diverse options of entertainments at their finger tips that it naturally persuades them to choose the OTT way. For example, If I wish to watch a 100 year old film right now in quality I can with help of digital platforms that too at the comfort of my home.
However, the classic cinema experience of watching a film on a magnificent screen along with 100 people whom you don't know but share a common sense of feeling is otherworldly and it remains to be not just culturally important but also in the sector of economical development as it generates more income, leads to generation of employment and a circular running of circular economic ecosystem around it. for sample, going to cinema binds all kinds generates employment and income at infrastructural level, food industry level and even from the smallest cleaning jobs to the top managerial positions. It is also important as it brings all different kinds of people from different backdrops under a same roof breaking social barriers.
In my opinion, Cinemas still remain to be important in the society in regards for a cultural development of the society and on economical system to flourish that functions around it.
To conclude, Dig digital entertainment platforms are a great source of enjoyment and convenient and comfortable enjoyment of content, but watching films in theatres is important for far more experiential and important.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses both sides of the argument and provides a clear personal opinion. The ideas regarding convenience for digital platforms and the socio-economic benefits of cinemas are relevant and well-supported. However, some points, such as the 'circular economic ecosystem,' are slightly repetitive and could have been developed with more precise terminology. The position is consistent throughout the essay, and the conclusion effectively summarizes the main points. To reach a higher band, ensure that the economic arguments are more clearly linked to specific examples rather than general statements about employment.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is logically organized with clear paragraphing. Each paragraph has a central theme, and the progression of ideas is easy to follow. Cohesive devices such as 'Firstly,' 'However,' and 'To conclude' are used effectively to guide the reader. However, there are instances where the flow is slightly mechanical, and some transitions between sentences within paragraphs could be smoother. Referencing is generally clear, though some phrasing, such as 'for sample,' is non-standard and slightly disrupts the flow of the argument.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate and allows for the expression of ideas with reasonable precision. There is an attempt to use less common items like 'magnificent,' 'otherworldly,' and 'infrastructural.' However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'any important' instead of 'still important' and 'for sample' instead of 'for example.' Additionally, some phrasing is slightly awkward, such as 'circular running of circular economic ecosystem.' Improving the precision of these collocations would elevate the score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, including subject-verb agreement issues ('platforms has,' 'cinemas still remain to be important') and minor punctuation errors. Some sentences are slightly clunky, such as 'the generation today keeps convinence and comfort as their top-most priority to which the online platforms perfectly caters.' While these errors do not impede communication, they are frequent enough to prevent a higher band score. More attention to proofreading for basic agreement and article usage is recommended.
