Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0

The response is significantly under-length, containing only 81 words against the 250-word requirement. Consequently, the task is only partially addressed. While you attempt to introduce both sides of the argument and state a personal opinion, the ideas are not developed or supported with examples as required by the prompt. The response stops abruptly after the first sentence of the first body paragraph, meaning the discussion of the economic and cultural importance of cinemas is entirely absent. To improve, you must expand on your points with specific examples and ensure you meet the minimum word count to allow for a full exploration of the topic.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.0

The essay lacks a clear structure due to its extreme brevity. While there is an attempt at an introduction and the start of a body paragraph, the lack of development makes it impossible to assess the logical progression of ideas. Cohesive devices are minimal, and the paragraphing is incomplete. To improve, ensure each main idea is presented in a separate, well-developed paragraph, and use linking words such as 'furthermore', 'consequently', or 'in contrast' to guide the reader through your argument.

Lexical Resource — Band 4.0

The vocabulary is basic and repetitive, with several spelling errors such as 'cineam', 'importmant', 'cinrmas', 'te', 'Othera', 'persepctive', and 'significat'. These errors, combined with the limited range of vocabulary, make the writing difficult to follow at times. To reach a higher band, you should focus on accurate spelling and attempt to use a wider range of topic-specific vocabulary related to the film industry, such as 'cinematic experience', 'cultural heritage', or 'digital accessibility'.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0

The response contains frequent grammatical errors, including subject-verb agreement issues ('Some people argued' instead of 'argue') and incorrect word forms ('as economically and culturally' instead of 'economically and culturally'). Sentence structures are simple and repetitive. There is a lack of complex sentence structures, which are necessary for higher band scores. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction and proofreading for common errors like missing articles and incorrect verb tenses.
