Student answer (Band 6.0)

Few issues are as widely discussed as theatres and cinemas are become popular in among the people. Although there are differing perspectives on this issue, some people believe that cinemas are no longer important as people can watch all the movies and dramas at their homes by using some online applications, other argue that they are still essential for economically and culturally. I would argue that cinemas remain important this is a positive development largely because they provide employment, support the entertainment industry and offer a unique shared cultural experience.

The first point that deserves attention is online platforms are convenience and flexible. At its core, this is because that people have to watch variety of films in any kind of language without having any break and also choose the company with their family and friends. In practical terms, in the digital era , many online platforms that involves Netflix, chaupal, youtube, zeetv, hotstar and so on that provide the entainment resources without paying any cost. This means that people feel more comfortable at home because its save their time and make them relax after their hectic schedule.

On the other that, watching movies in cinemas helps to increase the employment and contribute to the wider entertainment industry. What makes this particularly significant is that watching a film or performance in a cinema provides a shared social experience that cannot be fully replicated at home. Moreover, venues also contribute to cultural life by bringing people together and supporting local artist.

Ultimately, the issue is more nuanced than it may initiallyappear. Nevertheless, having considered the main arguments, i remain convinced that cinemas improving the economical status and culturally, especially in light of its implications for society.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses both sides of the argument and provides a clear personal position. However, the development of ideas is somewhat superficial. For instance, the argument regarding economic benefits is mentioned but not sufficiently supported with specific examples or logical depth. While the prompt asks for a discussion of both views, the explanation of why online platforms are 'convenient' is a bit repetitive, and the list of streaming services feels like filler rather than analytical support. To reach a higher band, you should focus on expanding your arguments with more robust reasoning rather than listing examples.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is organised into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear progression of ideas. You use some cohesive devices such as 'The first point that deserves attention', 'On the other hand', and 'Ultimately'. However, some transitions are slightly mechanical or awkward, such as 'On the other that' (a typo for 'hand') and the phrasing in the introduction. Referencing is generally clear, but the flow between sentences could be smoother to avoid a sense of disjointedness. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the different viewpoints.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, including terms like 'nuanced', 'replicated', and 'implications'. However, there are several instances of awkward word choice and collocation errors, such as 'cinemas are become popular in among the people' and 'cinemas improving the economical status'. Some phrasing is also repetitive, such as the frequent use of 'important' and 'people'. While the vocabulary is sufficient to convey your meaning, it lacks the precision and flexibility required for a higher band score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While you attempt complex sentences, there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally distract the reader, such as 'online platforms are convenience' (should be 'convenient'), 'this is because that people have to watch', and 'many online platforms that involves'. Punctuation is generally functional, but there are errors in subject-verb agreement and word forms. These errors do not impede overall communication, but they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score.
