Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses both sides of the argument and provides a personal opinion, meeting the basic requirements of the task. However, the development of ideas is limited and at times unclear. For instance, the argument regarding the economic and cultural importance of cinemas is vague, lacking specific examples or logical depth. The introduction is incomplete, as the sentence regarding the opposing view is cut off. While the position is generally clear, the supporting arguments are somewhat superficial and repetitive. To improve, you should aim to provide more concrete examples and ensure that each paragraph fully develops a single main idea rather than listing general statements.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the logical flow is frequently interrupted by grammatical errors and awkward phrasing. While cohesive devices like 'On the one hand' and 'Moreover' are used, they are often applied mechanically or incorrectly, such as in the conclusion where the transition 'everything into the consideration' is non-standard. The referencing is sometimes unclear, and the paragraphing is not always effective in separating distinct ideas. The abrupt ending of the first paragraph significantly impacts the overall coherence of the piece. Improving the use of linking words and ensuring that each sentence flows naturally into the next will help raise your score in this area.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The range of vocabulary is limited and often repetitive. There are several instances of word-choice errors and non-standard collocations, such as 'earning finance' instead of 'earning money' or 'financial stability', and 'last longing memories' instead of 'lasting memories'. Some words are used incorrectly, such as 'beneficail for or both phases economy'. While the vocabulary is sufficient to convey the general meaning, it lacks the precision and flexibility required for higher bands. You should focus on learning common collocations and using more precise academic vocabulary to express your ideas more effectively.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. There are consistent issues with subject-verb agreement, such as 'some of the individuals considered' (should be 'consider') and 'anybody do not go' (should be 'does not go'). Punctuation is also problematic, with missing spaces after commas and incorrect sentence boundaries. The range of structures is limited, consisting mostly of simple sentences with some attempts at complex ones that are often faulty. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, subject-verb agreement, and correct punctuation, as these errors are currently very frequent throughout the text.
