Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses both views and provides a clear personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the argument regarding the economic importance of theatres is mentioned but lacks specific examples or depth. The explanation of why the 'old generation' prefers home entertainment is slightly confusing and contradictory. To improve, you should expand on your points with more detailed reasoning and concrete examples, ensuring that your position is consistently maintained throughout the essay rather than just stated in the conclusion.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organised into paragraphs, but the logical flow is occasionally disrupted by awkward phrasing and mechanical transitions. While you use some cohesive devices like 'However' and 'In addition', their application is sometimes repetitive or imprecise. For example, the transition 'On the other hands' is grammatically incorrect and disrupts the flow. Additionally, the use of punctuation, such as double commas at the end of sentences, is distracting and affects the overall readability. Improving the variety and accuracy of your linking words will help create a more professional and coherent structure.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but it lacks the precision and variety required for a higher band. You rely on basic terms like 'entertainment video' and 'good quality'. There are also instances of word-choice errors, such as 'splited views' (should be 'divergent' or 'conflicting') and 'youngest era' (which is not a standard collocation). To reach a higher band, focus on using more sophisticated vocabulary and collocations, such as 'cinematic experience' or 'cultural preservation', and ensure that words are used in their correct context.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. Issues include subject-verb agreement ('they was cheaper'), incorrect verb forms ('theatres help and encourage to people'), and missing articles. Punctuation is also a significant issue, with inconsistent capitalisation at the start of sentences and unnecessary punctuation marks. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, subject-verb agreement, and standard punctuation rules before attempting more complex grammatical structures.
