Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses both views and provides an opinion, but the development is inconsistent. While you mention that cinemas are important for economic growth and cultural awareness, the arguments are often vague or repetitive. For instance, the claim that cinemas promote 'false activities' and 'corruption' is not clearly explained or supported with logical examples. The position is present but lacks the depth required for a higher band. To improve, ensure each paragraph focuses on a clear, distinct argument supported by specific, relevant examples rather than general statements about 'bad things' or 'living standards'.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organised into paragraphs, but the progression of ideas is often disjointed. While you use some cohesive devices like 'Moreover' and 'Nevertheless', they are sometimes used incorrectly or do not logically connect the preceding and following sentences. For example, the transition between the benefits of cinemas and the negative impacts is abrupt. Additionally, the referencing is occasionally unclear, making it difficult for the reader to follow your line of reasoning. Improving the use of linking words and ensuring each paragraph has a clear topic sentence would significantly enhance the flow of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
Your vocabulary is somewhat limited and repetitive. You rely on basic terms like 'better', 'good', and 'things', which restricts your ability to express complex ideas precisely. There are also instances of awkward collocations and word choices, such as 'play contrast role' instead of 'argue the opposite' or 'cultural legislations' which does not fit the context. To achieve a higher score, focus on learning topic-specific vocabulary related to media, economics, and culture, and practice using these words in appropriate contexts to convey your meaning more accurately.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. Issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'theatres and cinemas are... is not'), missing articles, and incorrect word forms (e.g., 'better economically growth' instead of 'better economic growth'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with several instances of missing or misplaced commas. While the meaning is generally understandable, the high frequency of errors in basic grammar prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. Focus on proofreading for subject-verb agreement and article usage.
