Student answer (Band 6.0)
In recent years, the discussion about whether the theatres and cinema are still important for people or not has become a widely discussed issue. While some people believe that everything that they want to watch is available on the internet, others argue that theatres and cinemas are not just for entertainment, It is a part of any country's culture and heritage. This essay will discuss both perspectives. In my perspective, I will say theatres and cinemas are not as important as in old times.
To begin with, one major reason is that people nowadays do not have enough time to look after themselves so how they can manage time to watch movies and spend money to buy tickets. This is because way of living has changed a lot. In urban areas life is so busy and fast and people barely have social contacts and leisure time. For example, man working in a hospital's 9 to 5 job. After spending whole time in a hectic environment he just wants to relax at home and there he can watch movies .Therefore, people who are busy in urban lives prefer to stay at home when they have leisure time rather than going to cinemas to waste time and money.
Another important point is that some people are fond of going outside and they feel boring to stay at home doing nothing. In addition, These people prefer to spend their weekends outside such as watching movies in cinemas, party at clubs and family gatherings in a park. For instance, many people who are fond of watching movies in cinemas they do not like watching them on tiny screens of home TV.
In conclusion, we can say that some people prefer to stay at their home in spare times and get relaxed themselves and some see it fascinating to go outside for watching movies . Overall, I believe that in today’s time cinemas are of no use and they are waste of time and money. The same movies we can watch online at home and can save time and money.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The essay addresses both views and provides a clear personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. While you mention the economic and cultural importance of cinemas in the prompt, you do not fully explore these aspects in your body paragraphs, focusing instead primarily on personal convenience and time management. The argument is consistent, but the discussion of the 'cultural' aspect is missing, which prevents a more nuanced response. To improve, ensure that you explicitly address all parts of the prompt, including the economic and cultural arguments mentioned in the task instructions, rather than focusing solely on the convenience of home viewing.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear introduction and conclusion. You use some cohesive devices like 'To begin with', 'In addition', and 'Therefore' to link ideas. However, the flow between sentences is sometimes mechanical, and some transitions are abrupt. For instance, the jump from discussing busy urban lives to the preference for going out in the second body paragraph could be smoother. Additionally, there are some issues with referencing, such as the use of 'These people' in the third paragraph, which feels slightly disconnected from the previous sentence. Improving the variety and precision of your linking words will help the essay flow more naturally.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
Your vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing you to express your ideas clearly. You use some relevant topic-specific terms like 'leisure time', 'hectic environment', and 'heritage'. However, there is a lack of variety, and some word choices are slightly unnatural or repetitive, such as 'feel boring' instead of 'find it boring' or 'get relaxed themselves'. You also rely on basic phrasing to describe the contrast between home and cinema viewing. To reach a higher band, try to incorporate more sophisticated collocations and precise academic vocabulary to describe the cultural and economic impacts of the film industry.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with articles ('the theatres', 'a man working'), subject-verb agreement, and punctuation. For example, 'how they can manage' should be 'how can they manage', and there are several comma splices and missing articles throughout. While these errors do not impede communication, they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score. Focus on proofreading for basic sentence construction, subject-verb agreement, and the correct use of articles to improve your accuracy.
