Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, reaching only 196 words. This significantly impacts the development of ideas, which remain superficial and repetitive. While the essay attempts to address both views and provides a personal opinion, the arguments are underdeveloped and lack specific examples or logical depth. The points made, such as 'people do not go to theatres', are asserted without explanation or supporting evidence. To improve, you must expand your arguments with detailed reasoning and concrete examples to fully address the prompt.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the flow of ideas is disjointed and repetitive. Cohesive devices are used in a very mechanical and often incorrect manner, such as the repetitive use of 'however' and 'moreover' to start sentences that do not logically follow the previous ones. The referencing is unclear, and the progression of ideas is hindered by the lack of logical links between sentences. The structure is present but fails to create a coherent argument, making the text difficult to follow at times.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is very limited and repetitive. You frequently reuse the same phrases, such as 'cinemas and theatres', 'important', and 'entertainment movies', throughout the text. There is no attempt to use a wider range of vocabulary or less common lexical items. Word choice is often imprecise, and the lack of variety makes the writing feel simplistic. To reach a higher band, you should focus on using synonyms and more sophisticated collocations related to the topic of media, technology, and cultural impact.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.5
The grammatical range is very limited, consisting mostly of simple, repetitive sentence structures. There are frequent errors in subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'theatres and cinemas is', 'people don't watching'), tense usage, and article usage. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with spaces placed incorrectly before commas. These errors are frequent and occasionally impede the clarity of the message. To improve, you need to practice constructing more complex sentences and focus on basic grammatical accuracy, particularly with verb forms and sentence construction.
