Student answer (Band 5.5)
Some individuals thought that in this era theatres and cinemas are not important because people can watch all the entertaining material online but mostly people say that that theatres and cinemas are still important both economically and culturally. In my opinion theatres and cinemas is less important in this time because everyone have own mobiles and people watch all the things online they did not go on the theatres and cinemas.
Firstly, In this modern age mostly people in the past who went to the cinemas and theatres for watch a entertaining material and they spent a lot of time in the cinema. But in nowadays the theatres and cinemas is no more important then past because people watch they want online in these days no need to go cinema and theatres for watch movies and etc. we see all kind of activity online at any time but in the cinema we should see on the proper time by watch online material we save our time therefore people did not go cinemas.
Secondly, some other people say the the both cinemas & theatres are still important both economically and culturally economically, these venues creat thousands of jobs for actors, directors, technicians, and staff they also generate substantial revenue for the local economy through ticket sales, food and tourism. culturally, theatres and cinemas provide a unique shared experience that cannot be replicated online watching a film or play on a big screen with an audience.
To sum up, a lot of people watch different material online they did not need go to cinema and mostly cinemas and theatres are still important both economically and cultured a lot of individual watch movie or drama on a big screen together.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses both views and provides a personal opinion, meeting the basic requirements of the prompt. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited and repetitive. For instance, the argument regarding the convenience of online viewing is stated multiple times without adding new depth. The conclusion is also slightly contradictory, as it acknowledges the importance of cinemas while reiterating that people do not need them. To reach a higher band, you should ensure that each paragraph introduces distinct, well-supported points rather than restating the same premise. The position is clear, but the supporting evidence could be more specific and logically structured to fully explore the economic and cultural aspects mentioned in the prompt.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate. For example, the transition 'economically, these venues creat...' is abrupt and lacks proper sentence structure. Referencing is sometimes unclear, such as in the phrase 'the both cinemas & theatres', which is grammatically awkward. While there is a logical progression from the introduction to the body paragraphs, the flow between sentences is frequently interrupted by grammatical errors and repetitive phrasing. Improving the use of linking words like 'furthermore', 'consequently', or 'in contrast' would help create a smoother, more professional flow throughout the essay.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. You rely on basic terms like 'entertaining material', 'things', and 'activities'. There are also instances of word-choice errors, such as 'cultured' instead of 'cultural' in the conclusion. While you attempt to use some topic-specific vocabulary like 'substantial revenue' and 'replicated', these are isolated instances. To improve, focus on using more precise collocations and a wider variety of academic vocabulary to express your ideas. Avoid repeating the same phrases, such as 'theatres and cinemas', and try to use synonyms or pronouns to maintain interest.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent errors in grammar, punctuation, and subject-verb agreement that occasionally impede communication. Examples include 'Some individuals thought' (tense inconsistency), 'everyone have own mobiles' (subject-verb agreement), and 'theatres and cinemas is' (plural subject with singular verb). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with missing commas and run-on sentences, such as '...online they did not go on the theatres and cinemas.' These errors are frequent and noticeable. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, ensuring that subjects and verbs agree, and using correct verb tenses consistently throughout your writing.
