Student answer (Band 5.5)

In this digital age theatres and cinemas lose their significance in the world because of same movie and show are available on online platforms like prime video and netflix etc. While on the other hand, people discuss that theatres and cinemas are still have significance in economically and culturally.

On one hand, the digital age take the audience of theatres and cinemas by providing same level of entertainment on there mobiles with a pocket friendly price. Furthermore, platforms like prime video and netflix stream movie and web series on there mobiles so they can watch anywhere now there is no need to visit theatres and cinemas especially for watching movies and plays.

On the other hand, cinemas and theatres has a considerable history along with the story of success. Firstly, watching movie in cinemas provide a different level of experience because of the sound effects and the big screen. Nowadays, you can watch movie in 3D, IMAX with dolby atom sound effect which you can't experience in your mobile screen.

From my point of view, watching movie in cinemas and theatres are much profitable for both peoples and the box office whereas stream them on your mobile. Also watching movies in cinema give money to government.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, which significantly impacts the development of ideas. While you address both sides of the argument and provide a personal opinion, the discussion is underdeveloped. For instance, the economic and cultural importance of cinemas is mentioned but not sufficiently explored or supported with specific examples. The conclusion is also very brief and lacks depth. To improve, you must expand your arguments with more detailed explanations and relevant examples to ensure the task is fully addressed within the required length.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. You use some basic cohesive devices like 'On one hand', 'On the other hand', and 'Furthermore'. However, the flow between sentences is sometimes mechanical, and the progression of ideas is limited by the brevity of the text. Some transitions feel abrupt, and the connection between the economic benefits mentioned in the introduction and the final paragraph is not clearly developed. Improving the use of a wider variety of linking words and ensuring smoother transitions between paragraphs would enhance the overall coherence.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. You rely on repetitive phrasing, such as 'cinemas and theatres' and 'watching movie'. There are also some inaccuracies in word choice, such as 'much profitable' instead of 'more profitable' or 'economically and culturally' used as adjectives rather than adverbs. To achieve a higher score, try to incorporate more sophisticated vocabulary related to the topic, such as 'cinematic experience', 'revenue streams', or 'cultural heritage', and ensure correct word forms are used.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

There is a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but the accuracy is inconsistent. You have frequent errors in subject-verb agreement, such as 'cinemas and theatres has' instead of 'have', and 'people discuss that theatres and cinemas are still have'. Additionally, there are issues with articles and prepositions, such as 'in there mobiles' (should be 'on their mobiles') and 'stream them on your mobile' (should be 'streaming them'). While these errors do not completely impede communication, they occur frequently enough to lower the score. Focus on proofreading for basic grammatical agreement and correct preposition usage.
