Student answer (Band 6.0)
According to few individuals, in recent times theatres have lost its significance due to availability of newly established online platforms. Whereas, some believe they are evergreen economically and culturally. I agree with the view that they play a vital role in a society.
Some recently developed OTT platforms are gaining popularity in public all over the globe from a decade. Since these applications are improving their quality and making sure people access shows or movies in a short period of time after its release with reasonable charges, audience are interested in these. So, everyone prefer spending on these online entertainments rather than watching a single movie at same price. For example, a famous brand like Netflix has made its packages cheaper and it make sure it release latest blockbuster film in relatively less number of days.
However, people have not completely stoped spending their money on theatres. They always look forward to watch a movie on a huge screen with friends, family or well-wishers. This can be a stage to develop a sense of togetherness with other person irrespective of their age, gender, social group or status. It is profitable for people working at the theatre, productions and the actors. It helps them build their career. For instance, a recent cinema in Hollywood was a massive hit so the production gain a lot of profits.
In my opinion, no matter how famous the online platforms become they can never replace the theatres and cinemas as they play an important role in source of income, development of a community and promote cultural practices.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the prompt, discussing both the decline of theatres due to online platforms and their continued economic and cultural importance. You clearly state your position in the introduction and maintain it throughout. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the economic argument regarding Hollywood profits is a bit vague and could be supported with more specific detail or a clearer link to the 'cultural' aspect mentioned in the prompt. To reach a higher band, ensure that your supporting examples are fully explained to show a deeper engagement with the topic.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is logically organized into paragraphs, each with a clear central topic. You use some cohesive devices such as 'However', 'For instance', and 'According to', which help the flow of the argument. However, some transitions feel a bit mechanical, and the referencing is occasionally slightly awkward, such as in the phrase 'a recent cinema in Hollywood', where 'cinema' is used to refer to a film. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring more precise referencing would enhance the overall flow and cohesion of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'significance', 'evergreen', and 'togetherness'. There are some minor inaccuracies in word choice, such as 'a recent cinema in Hollywood' (referring to a film) and 'make sure it release' (should be 'ensures it releases'). While you attempt to use some less common vocabulary, the control is not always consistent. To improve, focus on collocations and ensuring that words are used in their correct context to convey your meaning with greater precision.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical errors, such as subject-verb agreement ('theatres have lost its significance' should be 'their significance'; 'it make sure it release' should be 'it ensures it releases') and article usage ('in public' should be 'to the public'). These errors do not impede communication, but they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score. Focus on proofreading for basic agreement and tense consistency to improve your accuracy.
