Student answer (Band 6.0)

A few individuals have belief that in the digital world, theatres and cinemas are not much popular as people can see all kind of entertainment online. While, others thinks that theatres and cinemas still have value finincally and culturally. My opinion is, the importants of theatres have decreased because of online platforms, but still some people like to watch movies in theatres. Both the views with my opinion will be explained in further paragraphs.

On the one hand the importance of theatres and cinemas has decreased due to online platforms. To elabroate, there are so many online platforms like netflix, jiohotstar and amazon prime are present on which individuals can watch the latest movies or web series. The subscription of this platforms are same as the value of one ticket, so people like to watch movies on this than in theatres. For example, a person who want to watch the film with his family can see on netflix in just 200 rupess then spending 100 rupess behind the tickets.

On the other hand some people still like to watch movie in the cinemas because of their quality and effects. The experience of watching a movie in the theatre is different due to the big screen and the sound effects. Moreover, people like to do out with their close ones and like to watch movie with popcron in the cinemas for atleast once in a month. For example, a family want to enjoy movie with better sound, visual and also want to go out will go to theatre to watch movie.

In conclusion, in my opinion the value of theatres and cinemas are not diminish because some people like to watch movies in the theatres for better sound and visuals. But, there are so many online platforms available on which individual like to watch because it is cheaper compare to cinemas.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses all parts of the prompt, discussing both views and providing a personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. While you mention economic and cultural importance, the arguments remain quite superficial. For instance, the economic aspect is mentioned in the introduction but not fully explored in the body paragraphs. To reach a higher band, you should expand on the 'cultural' significance of cinemas beyond just 'sound and visuals,' perhaps discussing their role as community hubs or the preservation of film as an art form. Your position is clear, but the supporting arguments could be more robust and analytical.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is logically organized into paragraphs, and you use basic cohesive devices like 'On the one hand' and 'In conclusion' to signal the structure. However, the flow between sentences is sometimes mechanical. There are instances where referencing is slightly unclear, and the transition between ideas could be smoother. For example, the jump from discussing Netflix to the cost comparison in the second paragraph is a bit abrupt. Improving the use of linking words and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence would help the progression of your ideas feel more natural and sophisticated.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

Your vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but it lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. You rely on common, repetitive phrasing such as 'watch movies' and 'online platforms.' There are also some spelling errors ('finincally', 'elabroate', 'popcron') and minor word choice inaccuracies, such as 'not much popular' instead of 'not as popular.' To improve, try to incorporate more topic-specific collocations and less common vocabulary related to the entertainment industry, such as 'cinematic experience,' 'digital streaming services,' or 'cultural significance.'

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but the accuracy is inconsistent. There are frequent errors in subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'others thinks', 'subscription of this platforms are') and article usage. Some sentences are also grammatically awkward, such as 'a person who want to watch the film... can see on netflix'. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they occur frequently enough to impact the overall clarity. Focusing on proofreading for basic grammatical agreement and ensuring correct verb forms will significantly improve your score.
