Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses all parts of the prompt, discussing both views and providing a clear personal opinion. The ideas are relevant, such as the economic impact of cinemas and the convenience of digital platforms. However, some points are under-developed; for instance, the mention of 'GDP growth' is a good point but lacks specific explanation or connection to the cultural importance mentioned in the prompt. The position is consistent throughout, though the conclusion could have been more explicitly linked to the arguments presented in the body paragraphs to ensure a more comprehensive summary.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'To embark upon', 'On the other hand', and 'Additionally', though some transitions feel slightly mechanical or unnatural. Referencing is generally clear, but there are instances where the flow between sentences is slightly disjointed, such as the transition between the mention of 3D/5D shows and the economic benefits of cinemas. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the different viewpoints, which helps the reader follow the argument.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The range of vocabulary is adequate for the task, with attempts to use topic-specific terms like 'digital gimmicks', 'plethora', and 'economic impact'. However, there are several instances of awkward word choice and collocation errors, such as 'in every prospects' (should be 'in every respect') and 'specially design' (should be 'specially designed'). Some phrasing is repetitive, and the use of 'digital gimmicks' to describe online platforms is slightly imprecise. While the meaning is always clear, the lack of precision in word choice prevents a higher score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors that, while not impeding communication, are noticeable. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('online platforms has become', 'cinemas still remain', 'Internet provides'), incorrect verb forms ('specially design'), and preposition errors ('in any time'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with comma placement. While the writer attempts complex structures, the frequency of these minor errors suggests a need for more careful proofreading and a better grasp of basic grammatical rules.
