Student answer (Band 6.0)

Some individuals believe that in this modernized era, theaters and cinemas are not the preference of public anymore because they can get entertainment from various social media accounts. However, others think that theaters and cinemas play a crucial role in representing culture and enhancing economy of countries. In my point of view, they are not that much important because nowadays every person has a social media access, and people do not prefer to go physically in these places, due to hectic routine.

On the one hand, in this contemporary age, viewers do not like to watch movies in cinemas or dramas in theaters because they can watch any type of entertainment from online platforms. This is because these days every person uses mobile phones and laptops so they enjoy at home. In addition, individuals do not have sufficient time to go physically outside to watch movies because they are stuck in their works and studies. They watch online whenever they get time. For instance, in many countries cinemas lost their importance due to viewers get material online.

On the other hand, few persons have perception that these theaters and cinemas are still important. One prime reason is that they can stable the economy of country. When different people visit these places frequently, it automatically increases the budget of cinema. Secondly, there are variety of films that are based on cultural values and customs. That is because movies and dramas present good image of culture on big screens. For example, country like India is very popular in worldwide because of its cinemas and films, and they are developing their economy every day.

In conclusion. some people think theaters and cinemas are not important because of internet, while others believe they play a vital role in financial stability and in demonstration of cultural. I believe now person can get entertainment through numerous online platforms therefore there is no need to go physically.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses both views and provides a clear personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the argument regarding the economic impact of cinemas is mentioned but lacks depth or specific evidence beyond a general reference to India. The ideas are relevant, but the explanation remains superficial, particularly in the conclusion where the opinion is restated without further synthesis. To reach a higher band, you should expand on your points with more detailed reasoning or specific examples that illustrate the 'cultural' or 'economic' significance more thoroughly.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is logically organized into paragraphs, each with a clear focus. Cohesive devices such as 'On the one hand,' 'In addition,' and 'In conclusion' are used to guide the reader. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical, and there are instances where the flow between sentences feels slightly disjointed, such as in the second paragraph where the transition between mobile phone usage and the lack of time is abrupt. Paragraphing is used appropriately, but the internal cohesion could be improved by using a wider variety of linking phrases to connect ideas more naturally.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'modernized era,' 'contemporary age,' and 'financial stability.' However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'they can stable the economy' (should be 'stabilize') and 'demonstration of cultural' (should be 'cultural values' or 'culture'). Some phrasing is repetitive, such as the frequent use of 'important' and 'go physically.' To improve, focus on using more precise academic collocations and ensuring that word forms are used correctly in context.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with articles ('the economy of country' instead of 'the economy of a country'), subject-verb agreement, and preposition usage ('go physically in these places'). Punctuation is generally acceptable, though there is a minor error in the final paragraph ('In conclusion. some people...'). The errors do not impede communication, but they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score. Focus on proofreading for basic articles and pluralization.
