Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses both views and provides a personal opinion, meeting the basic requirements of the prompt. However, the development of ideas is limited. The arguments regarding the economic and cultural importance of cinemas are underdeveloped, relying on vague generalizations about the Indian film industry. The personal opinion is clear but lacks depth, focusing primarily on personal convenience rather than engaging with the broader societal or economic implications mentioned in the prompt. To improve, you should provide more specific, well-reasoned arguments for both sides and ensure your personal opinion is supported by logical analysis rather than just personal preference.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the logical progression of ideas is often disjointed. While there are some attempts at cohesive devices like 'furthermore' and 'for example', they are often used incorrectly or in a way that does not effectively link the sentences. The referencing is sometimes unclear, and the flow between the introduction, body paragraphs, and conclusion is mechanical. To reach a higher band, focus on using a wider range of linking words more accurately and ensure that each paragraph has a clear central topic sentence that connects logically to the next.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is generally limited and repetitive. There are frequent errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'most after effect has been faced' and 'major boost sifted'. Some phrasing is informal or awkward, such as 'they are always look for there benefit'. While the meaning is generally conveyed, the lack of precision and the presence of spelling errors (e.g., 'band' instead of 'banned', 'industory') hinder the overall quality. To improve, work on expanding your vocabulary related to media and economics and pay closer attention to word forms and spelling.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains a high frequency of grammatical errors, including subject-verb agreement issues ('people start searching', 'movies are getting flop'), incorrect verb tenses ('shows were been produce'), and punctuation errors. Sentence structures are often simple or run-on, and there is a lack of complex sentence control. These errors frequently cause the reader to pause and re-read to understand the intended meaning. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, subject-verb agreement, and the correct use of passive voice before attempting more complex structures.
