Student answer (Band 5.0)

Some people say theaters and cinemas are still important butt some people say there is no need of it . Theaters and cinemas used to spend time with each other and have some fun . Butt in this fast life it is also true there is no importance now . I discuss both sides in below .

Firstly, it is cumbersome for anyone to spend there time from its busy routine . People now days prefer to watch movies at home on mobile or tv . Because it is also waste of time and also money spending for them . For example if a family want to watch a movie it is easy for them to watch it at home with a simple internet package . I think it is better solution instead of suffering from difficulties .

Secondly , it is not completely true that moving to tv instead of cinema peoples who prefer are also right . Main thing about suggesting cinema is sense of fun and joy and they also want to watch on big screen . But follow those who understand that there is no kore need of it . My opinion is that saving money and time is a good option in now busy time table .

Conclusion , both have their good and bad perspectives butt i prefer the people who want to watch movies online not in cinema . Economically and culturally they are right butt this is not enough for that .

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses both sides of the argument and provides a personal opinion, meeting the basic requirements of the prompt. However, the development of ideas is limited and often repetitive. For instance, the argument regarding the convenience of watching movies at home is mentioned multiple times without being expanded upon with deeper analysis or specific examples. The discussion of the economic and cultural importance of cinemas is mentioned in the conclusion but is not adequately explored in the body paragraphs. To improve, you should provide more detailed explanations and concrete examples to support your points, ensuring that each paragraph contributes significantly to the overall argument.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is organised into paragraphs, which is a positive step. However, the logical progression of ideas is often disjointed. The use of cohesive devices is mechanical and sometimes incorrect, such as the repetitive use of 'Butt' (spelled incorrectly) to start sentences. Referencing is also unclear at times, particularly in the second body paragraph where the connection between the two viewpoints is confusing. To achieve a higher score, you should use a wider variety of linking words and ensure that each sentence flows naturally into the next, creating a more cohesive and professional structure.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is quite limited and repetitive, relying on basic words like 'fun', 'time', and 'good'. There are also frequent spelling errors, such as 'butt' instead of 'but', 'kore' instead of 'more', and 'there' instead of 'their'. The range of vocabulary is insufficient to express complex ideas or nuanced arguments effectively. To improve, you should focus on learning topic-specific collocations related to entertainment and technology, and pay closer attention to spelling and word choice to ensure your writing is more precise and academic in tone.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. There are issues with subject-verb agreement, such as 'peoples who prefer are also right', and incorrect sentence structures, such as 'Because it is also waste of time and also money spending for them'. The range of grammatical structures is very limited, consisting mostly of simple sentences. To improve, you need to work on sentence variety, including the use of complex and compound sentences, and ensure that your basic grammar, such as articles and prepositions, is used correctly throughout your writing.
