Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The essay addresses both sides of the argument and provides a clear personal opinion in the introduction. However, the response is slightly under the 250-word minimum, which impacts the development of ideas. While the arguments regarding convenience and cultural value are relevant, the conclusion is missing entirely, leaving the essay incomplete. The ideas are presented but lack the depth required for a higher band score, as the discussion of economic benefits is cut short. To improve, ensure you provide a full conclusion that summarizes your main points and restates your position clearly.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay uses basic cohesive devices such as 'On one hand' and 'On the other hand' to organize the paragraphs. However, the progression of ideas is interrupted by the abrupt ending. Paragraphing is present, but the lack of a concluding paragraph makes the overall structure feel unfinished. Referencing is generally clear, but some transitions between sentences feel slightly mechanical. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and ensure that each paragraph flows logically into the next, culminating in a well-structured conclusion.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, with some attempts at topic-specific language like 'digital era', 'obsolete', and 'unparalleled conveniences'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'last libraries' (likely meant 'vast libraries') and 'cannot reflect' (should be 'cannot replicate' or 'cannot provide'). The range is sufficient to convey meaning, but it lacks the precision and sophistication required for higher bands. Expanding your vocabulary to include more nuanced collocations related to media and economics would be beneficial.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement, such as 'online platforms provides' (should be 'provide') and 'streaming platform offers' (should be 'platforms offer'). Additionally, there are punctuation and phrasing issues, such as 'say believe' and 'making the traditional viewing an outdated'. While these errors do not significantly impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. Focus on proofreading for basic agreement and ensuring complex sentences are constructed accurately.
