Student answer (Band 5.5)
There is an ongoing debate about whether theaters and cinemas are still important in the digital age or whether online entertainment has made them unnecessary. Both perspectives have their merits and this essay will examine the argument on each side before explaining why i believe that cinemas and theaters are still important.
Those who support the former view tend to argue that theaters and cinemas are no longer as important as they were in the past.Their reasoning is that people can watch more wide range of entertainment online while staying at their home comfortably. This can lead the popularity of streaming platform which allow people to watch film and program when they want.As result people can save their time and their money with the help of these platforms.
By contrast proponents of the latter view maintain that theaters still have significant economic and cultural value.Their argument is basedlargely on the idea that these places provide job opportunities for people enjoy entertainment together. For example cinema provide jopb to cinema staff and movie provide jobs to movies staff.from my perspective this is more convincing because teh experiance of watching movie with your family or friend will not completely replaced by watching online .
in conclusion, both viewpoints are supported by reasonable arguments. Nevertheless,i am more persuadedby th e view that theatres and cinemas remain important as they more like to support economy and relations.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The essay addresses both sides of the argument and provides a clear personal opinion. However, the response is significantly under the 250-word minimum, which limits the depth of development. The arguments provided, such as the economic impact, are quite superficial and lack specific examples or detailed reasoning. For instance, the mention of 'cinema staff' is repetitive and lacks substance. To reach a higher band, you must expand your points with more detailed explanations and concrete evidence. Because the word count requirement was not met, the development of ideas is necessarily restricted, which prevents the essay from achieving a higher score in this criterion.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. You use some basic cohesive devices like 'By contrast' and 'In conclusion' to signal transitions. However, the flow between sentences is sometimes mechanical, and there are instances where the connection between ideas is weak. For example, the transition from the economic argument to the cultural experience is abrupt. Additionally, the use of referencing is occasionally unclear. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear, well-supported topic sentence would significantly enhance the logical progression of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary used is generally adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. You rely on simple, repetitive phrasing, such as 'watch film and program' and 'jobs to cinema staff'. There are also several spelling errors, such as 'jopb', 'teh', and 'experiance', which detract from the overall quality. To improve, you should aim to use more sophisticated vocabulary and collocations related to the topic of entertainment and economics. Expanding your range of synonyms and ensuring accurate spelling will help you demonstrate a more flexible command of the language.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the flow. Common issues include missing articles ('watch film', 'support economy'), incorrect verb forms ('will not completely replaced'), and punctuation errors, such as missing spaces after periods. While the meaning is generally clear, the frequency of these errors suggests a lack of control over complex structures. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement, correct article usage, and proofreading your work to eliminate basic mechanical errors like missing spaces and typos.
