Student answer (Band 5.5)

Some people argue that in the digital age, theatres and cinemas are no longer important as people can watch all the entertainment they want online. Others argue that theatres and cinemas are still important and culturally. While watching stuff online definatiley has some advantages but i firmly belive that no experience can match the vibe , the energy of going into a theatre and watching you favourite movie.

Supporters of watching entertainment online agues that watching movies or web series online or from there home gives them a sense of comfart they don't want to waste much of there time going to cinemas hall get stuck in traffic or they simply are too introvert they just prefer to avoid all the hustle-bustle of going outside specily for this . One more argument they say is that watching entertainment from online saves that money or it is more economialy benificial as they just need subscriaction to one OTT platform and they have access to thousands of movies and webseries which they can enjoy on there own time and pace insted of a fix time duration which is the case if one prefers going to theatres.

And on the other hand belivers of watching movies using cinemas hall insted of Ott platforms argues that in this era of digital age a man has too much convience they all always works on there laptops and if they start watching entertainment also on there laptop then there no fun or exteiment toward it they belive that a man should visit the theatres so that they can experience some discomfat before watching a movie so that feel a sense of achivement . They also beleves that going out for a movie also add to ecomany as you will use fuel , you will eat outside you will do some shoping which will also allow you to soend some quality time with your family with adding some contrubition to the economy of the state .

In conculsion both sides have there valid points but i still belive that the best way to consume a movie is to go and watch it in a theatres.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses both sides of the argument and provides a clear personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat superficial. For instance, the argument regarding the 'economy' is a bit simplistic, focusing on fuel and shopping rather than the broader cultural or industrial impact of cinemas. While the position is consistent, the supporting arguments lack depth and academic rigor. The response covers all parts of the prompt, but the explanation of why cinemas are 'economically' important could be more sophisticated to reach a higher band.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the progression of ideas. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and repetitive. Phrases like 'And on the other hand' and 'One more argument they say' are used to link ideas, but the flow between sentences is occasionally disjointed. Referencing is sometimes unclear, such as the use of 'they' without a precise antecedent in the second paragraph. Paragraphing is present, but the internal logical flow within paragraphs could be improved by using more varied linking words.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks precision and variety. There are frequent spelling errors (e.g., 'definatiley', 'belive', 'comfart', 'ecomany', 'subscriaction') and some informal phrasing ('watching stuff', 'hustle-bustle'). While the student attempts to use topic-specific vocabulary like 'OTT platform' and 'economically beneficial', the overall range is limited. The errors in spelling and word choice are noticeable and occasionally distract the reader, though they do not fully impede communication.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay relies heavily on simple sentence structures and contains frequent grammatical errors. There are consistent issues with subject-verb agreement ('belivers... argues', 'they all always works'), missing articles, and incorrect word forms ('economialy benificial'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with comma usage. While the student attempts complex sentences, they are often marred by errors that make the writing feel unpolished. To improve, the student needs to focus on basic sentence construction and proofreading for common grammatical slips.
