Student answer (Band 5.0)

The rendered layouts given depict the information about college cafe in past and how it looks like after modification.

Looking at the maps in more details, to the south side, there was a kitchen and serving area which is replaced by Hot meals, toilets and chair remained unaltered. However, tables are situated in same locations. In contrast, Bin is transformed into recycled bin in the north eastern area. To the west, staff dining rooms are occupied by take away food and coffee bar.

Turning towards the remaining information, a new salad bar and Barbecue is introduced in east side. In addition, outdoor seating is introduced into the southside.

It is believed by few individuals that in this modern era, people give more preference to watch movies online rather than go theatres and cinema. However, others opines that these places plays crucial role in economic as well as cultural culture. However, I am favour in the latter notion and discuss this essay will discuss above mentioned view points in the upcoming paragraphs with proper explanation thus leads to logical conclusion.

On the one hand, there are many reasons why individuals choose to watch movies online. First and foremost is that, it save money and time. To elaborate it, individuals can watch movies, series anywhere and anytime. They no need to go anywhere and spend money on fuel or private transport and it also save time. Apart from this, cinemas are very expensive and due to this many middle class families unable to spend money on it and they can watch movies online at home in their budget with whole family without any distraction. For instance, in India there are many families who never visit cinema and usually watch movies and other entertainment shows on different kinds of apps ranging from amazon prime, jio hotstar to netflix and these are very budget friendly. Therefore, many individuals prefer to watch entertainment shows online.

On the other hand, there are many factors to support my stance. The primary one is that it reduce the economy of city. In other words, if individual never visit cinemas then how owner earn money and pay tax to government which affect the economy of every country and owing to this, sometimes many workers may lose their jobs because owner have no mode of earn income. In addition, people become introvert. To explicate, if they watch movie at home then they get less chance to meet with their friends and relative which make them shy and affect their well being. Sometime they also weaken their communication skills because they never interact with other person. For example, in this digital age, many youngsters are watch movies on their phone instead of going with their friends outside theatre and this development affect their overall well-being. Hence, cinemas and theatres are equally importance as online platforms.

To conclude, even though, many people give import to watching online movies because it is cost effect and time saving, still I yet in my opinion I believe that this trend not only has adverse effect on economy but also affect the make the people isolated which is not go for their growth.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0

The response is significantly off-topic. The first three paragraphs describe a map (Academic Task 1), which is completely irrelevant to the prompt provided. While the latter half of the essay addresses the prompt regarding theatres and cinemas, the inclusion of the irrelevant Task 1 material severely impacts the overall task response. The position is clear, and ideas are extended, but the failure to focus exclusively on the assigned task prevents a higher score. To improve, ensure you only address the specific prompt given for the essay task.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is divided into paragraphs, but the transition between the irrelevant map description and the essay prompt is jarring and lacks logical progression. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'On the one hand' and 'In addition', but they are sometimes mechanical or misused. Referencing is occasionally unclear, and the overall structure is disjointed due to the inclusion of the Task 1 content. Paragraphing is present, but the logical flow is hindered by the initial confusion of task types.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks precision and sophistication. There are several instances of awkward phrasing, such as 'cultural culture' and 'give import to'. While the student attempts to use topic-specific vocabulary like 'economic' and 'digital age', the range is limited. Some word choices are repetitive, and there are minor errors in collocation that occasionally distract the reader. Expanding the range of synonyms and focusing on natural collocations would improve this score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout. Examples include 'people give more preference to watch' (should be 'watching'), 'these places plays' (subject-verb agreement), and 'they no need to go'. Punctuation is also inconsistent. While the meaning is generally clear, the frequency of errors in basic grammar and sentence construction is noticeable and prevents the response from reaching a higher band. More attention to subject-verb agreement and verb forms is required.
