Many people believe that in the digital age, Theatres and cinemas are no longer imperative as individuals can watch movies online on phones. Others think that theatres and cinemas are still important both economically and culturally.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses all parts of the prompt, including both views and a personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. While you mention economic and cultural benefits, the explanations are repetitive and lack specific, well-developed examples. For instance, the claim that movies 'bounce back the money from other countries' is vague and lacks clarity. Your position is clear, but the supporting arguments could be more sophisticated and detailed to reach a higher band. To improve, focus on expanding your points with more concrete evidence rather than repeating the same general statements about GDP and culture.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, and there is a logical progression of ideas. You use basic cohesive devices such as 'On the one hand', 'On the other hand', and 'In conclusion' to signal shifts in the argument. However, the internal cohesion within paragraphs is sometimes mechanical, and the use of referencing is occasionally imprecise. For example, the transition between sentences in the second paragraph feels slightly disjointed. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that each sentence flows naturally into the next would enhance the overall coherence of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'imperative', 'revenue', and 'backbone pillar'. However, there is some repetition of phrases such as 'theatres and cinemas' and 'economically and culturally'. Some word choices are slightly unnatural or inaccurate, such as 'bounce back the money' or 'exchange cultures'. To achieve a higher score, try to use more precise collocations and a wider variety of synonyms to avoid repetitive phrasing. Expanding your vocabulary to include more academic or topic-specific terminology would also be beneficial.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While you attempt complex sentences, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with articles (e.g., 'the theatres'), subject-verb agreement, and preposition usage (e.g., 'for my perspective' instead of 'from my perspective'). Additionally, there are issues with sentence fragments and awkward phrasing, such as 'due to it can lead to'. These errors do not generally impede communication, but they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score. Focusing on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy and refining your control over complex structures will help improve your score.
