Student answer (Band 6.0)
This particular essay will discuss that in today's digital world theater and cinemas are not important anymore because of the growing popularity of watching movies and T.V shows online at the comfort of one's own house. It is often argued that both cinemas and theater play a crucial role in both economically and culturally.
In my opinion, theater and cinemas are great source of entertainment for the public. While watching in your bed, eating snacks very comforting but there is nothing like going out with your friends and family to watch a nice movie where you all can have fun and make memories together. It is rather necessary to support our local movies and support them as growth of cinema will also help better our country's economy to a great extent.
Our country is full of art and culture we should definitely go watch theaters as it can boost our creativity as well and physically going to watch a performance or any piece of art will help us with our concentration as well because now adays lots of people are suffering with low attention span because short content being showcased on social media.
It can also contribute to our confidence level because we would be able to interact with so many more people rather than just watching something on our own.
On the other hand, watching a movie, tv show etc. can be more convenient and it can help us save our money but for our well-being and to keep our self socially engaged, going to a cinema is better.
To conclude,Eventhough watching entertainment content at home is more convenient and affordable. In my view, going to a cinema provides a better socially engaging experience. Therefore, cinema and theater remains a valuable form of leisure.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The essay addresses both sides of the argument and provides a clear personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat superficial. For instance, the economic and cultural importance of cinemas is mentioned but not sufficiently explained or supported with concrete examples. The argument regarding 'attention span' is a relevant point but feels slightly disconnected from the main prompt about the importance of cinemas. To reach a higher band, you should expand on the economic impact (e.g., job creation, local business support) and provide more detailed reasoning for your claims rather than listing them briefly.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the logical flow between them is sometimes disjointed. While you use some cohesive devices like 'On the other hand' and 'To conclude', the transitions between sentences within paragraphs are occasionally abrupt. For example, the jump from discussing 'art and culture' to 'concentration' and 'attention span' lacks a smooth logical bridge. Additionally, some sentences are quite short and repetitive in structure, which affects the overall flow. Improving the use of linking words and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear, singular focus would enhance the coherence of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, such as 'economically', 'culturally', 'convenient', and 'socially engaged'. However, the range is somewhat limited, and there are instances of slightly unnatural phrasing, such as 'at the comfort of one's own house' (should be 'in the comfort of one's own home') and 'better our country's economy' (a more academic choice would be 'boost' or 'stimulate'). There are also minor errors in word choice and collocation that, while not impeding communication, prevent the essay from reaching a higher band. Expanding your vocabulary to include more precise academic collocations would be beneficial.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with articles, prepositions, and punctuation. For example, 'theater and cinemas are great source' should be 'a great source', and 'now adays' should be 'nowadays'. There are also issues with sentence fragments and run-on sentences, such as in the conclusion where 'Eventhough' is used as a standalone sentence. While the meaning is generally clear, these persistent errors in basic grammar and punctuation indicate a need for more careful proofreading and a focus on sentence construction accuracy.
