Student answer (Band 5.5)
Some people say that in the digital age, theaters and cinema are no longer important as people can watch online what they want. Another claim is that theaters and cinema are still important both economically and culturally. There are many ways due to which cinemas are become less important like internet and many more. In this essay we will discuss about the reasons of importance and unimportance.
First and foremost, the main reason of decreasing value of cinemas is internet. The internet becomes very popular everywhere. Internet provides may facilities to a simple person to approach the news of other corner of the world. Moreover, there are many websites on internet that are providing movies, dramas and other many things that a person want. So, it becomes very easy to find about the entertainment. Furthermore, the other cause that is time-saving, residents prefer to live at home and watch online, it saves them from traveling.
Additionally, there are also some reasons for which cinemas are still important. The economically factor is that it provides jobs to our economy. The jobs in cinemas and theaters like staff member. For instance, my maternal uncle is the member of the staff in the cinema, and that job fulfill the expense of their house. In addition, cinemas and theaters are also a refreshment point for children and family members. They visits the cinemas and theaters for entertainment. For example, recently on the last weekends I visited the cinema with my all family members. There we watched a Punjabi movie.
In conclusion, we need to promote cinemas and theaters and it is my opinion also. Visiting the cinema can provide us a lot of refreshments. Promotion is also significant because it is cause of many household expenses. We should use internet also but at the weekends we need to visit the cinema that will be beneficial for us.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses both sides of the argument and provides a clear personal opinion in the conclusion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. While you mention the economic impact and the convenience of the internet, the points are supported by very simple, personal examples rather than broader, more analytical arguments. To reach a higher band, you should aim to expand on your points with more depth—for example, discussing the cultural significance of cinemas as communal spaces or the specific economic challenges faced by the film industry. The introduction is a bit repetitive, and the essay would benefit from a more sophisticated overview of the topic.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organised into logical paragraphs, which helps the reader follow your argument. You use basic cohesive devices such as 'First and foremost', 'Moreover', and 'In conclusion' to link your ideas. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical or slightly unnatural, such as 'There are many ways due to which cinemas are become less important'. The progression of ideas is clear, but the transitions between sentences could be smoother to improve the overall flow. Paragraphing is used appropriately, but the internal structure of the paragraphs could be more cohesive.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
Your vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing you to communicate your ideas clearly. You use some topic-specific terms like 'economically', 'culturally', and 'entertainment'. However, the range is somewhat limited, and there is a reliance on basic vocabulary. There are also some issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'provide may facilities to a simple person' and 'the economically factor'. To improve, try to incorporate more precise academic vocabulary and collocations that sound more natural in a formal essay context.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and some complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with verb forms ('cinemas are become'), articles ('the internet'), and pluralisation ('the staff member'). Some sentences are slightly awkward, such as 'that job fulfill the expense of their house'. While these errors do not significantly impede communication, they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score. You should focus on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles to improve your accuracy.
