Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The essay addresses both sides of the argument and provides a clear personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is limited. The arguments for online entertainment are repetitive, focusing only on saving time and work-life balance. The arguments for cinemas are vague; phrases like 'easy for the individual access to information' and 'lifelong learning' are not clearly linked to the cultural or economic importance of cinemas. The response would benefit from more specific examples, such as the social experience of cinema or the economic impact on local businesses, to better support the claims made.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organised into clear paragraphs, and there is an attempt to use cohesive devices such as 'Firstly', 'Secondly', and 'On the other hand'. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical or inaccurate. For example, the transition 'Consequently, I pen down my opinion' is slightly unnatural. Additionally, the logical progression within paragraphs is weak; the sentences often feel disconnected, and the link between the topic sentences and the supporting evidence is frequently unclear, which hinders the overall flow of the argument.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision and variety required for a higher band. There is significant repetition of basic words like 'entertainment', 'online', and 'watch'. Some word choices are awkward or incorrect, such as 'scrutinize the statement mention in the notion' and 'in the favors of'. To improve, you should aim to use more sophisticated collocations and avoid repeating the same terminology throughout the essay. The range is sufficient to communicate the main points, but it does not demonstrate a flexible or precise command of language.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include 'watching all the entertainment online have several benefits' (subject-verb agreement), 'most of the people prefer to watch movies online rather than go to cinemas and they save their time' (run-on structure), and 'all the entertainment happing Infront of their eyes' (spelling and preposition errors). While the meaning is generally understandable, the high frequency of errors in basic grammar and sentence construction limits the score.
