Student answer (Band 6.0)
In the digital era, many believe that watching films and shows in theaters and cinemas obsolete. However, others argue that these venues remain significant for both cultural and economical reasons. I agree that watching online shows are more convenient and time saving but traditional theaters and cinemas hold great value.
Those who support online watching argue that it is much more convenient to watch films and shows at anytime without purchasing ticket or going to any special place and for those individuals who don't have cinemas and theaters near to their houses. Streaming services like Netflix, You tube, Prime video provide thousands of best options. This is especially beneficial for busy people who have hectic schedules and routines.
On the other hand, theaters and cinemas are crucial economically and culturally. Economically, they create jobs for actors, staff and support local businesses like restaurants. Culturally, they provide a social experience that cannot be replicated online. Watching a film on a big screen is such a great vibe with good sound and with audience it creates a unique atmosphere.
From my perspective, both have their own place. Online platforms are excellent for casual viewing, but they cannot replace the experience of going to a theater or a cinema. For instance When I have to watch a film alone I always watch it online at my home and when I plan to watch it with my friends I always prefer to go cinema.
To conclude, while online platforms offers great convenience, but theaters and cinemas remain important for both economically and culturally. They provide unique experience and support jobs that cannot be replaced by watching films at home.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses all parts of the task, presenting both views and a clear personal opinion. The ideas are relevant and generally well-developed, particularly the distinction between casual home viewing and the social experience of cinemas. However, some points could be further extended to reach a higher band. For instance, the economic argument is mentioned but could be supported with more specific examples beyond just 'jobs for actors'. The position is consistent throughout the essay, and the conclusion effectively summarizes the main points. To improve, ensure that each supporting argument is fully explored with more depth and specific detail.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Each paragraph has a central topic, and the progression of ideas is easy to follow. Cohesive devices such as 'On the other hand', 'From my perspective', and 'To conclude' are used effectively to guide the reader. However, there are minor issues with cohesion, such as the slightly awkward phrasing in the final paragraph: 'while online platforms offers great convenience, but...'. This double conjunction is unnecessary and disrupts the flow. Overall, the paragraphing is appropriate and the structure is clear.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate and appropriate for the task. You use some good topic-specific collocations like 'hectic schedules', 'casual viewing', and 'social experience'. However, there are some inaccuracies and repetitive word choices. For example, 'watching online shows are more convenient' should be 'watching shows online is more convenient'. Additionally, the phrase 'great vibe' is too informal for an academic essay. To improve, try to incorporate more sophisticated vocabulary and ensure that word forms are used correctly in context. Expanding your range of synonyms would also help to avoid repetition.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical errors that persist throughout the text. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('online platforms offers') and missing articles ('go cinema' instead of 'go to the cinema'). There are also punctuation errors, such as the missing comma after 'For instance' and the awkward sentence structure in the conclusion. While these errors do not impede communication, they indicate a need for more careful proofreading and a better grasp of complex sentence construction to reach a higher band.
