Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0
The response is incomplete, as it cuts off mid-sentence in the second body paragraph. Because the essay does not reach the minimum word count of 250 words and fails to provide a conclusion or fully develop the second viewpoint, it cannot be considered a complete response. The introduction identifies the two sides of the argument and states a position, but the lack of a full discussion and the abrupt ending significantly hinder the development of ideas. To improve, you must ensure all parts of the prompt are addressed and that the essay reaches the required length with a clear structure including an introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay uses some basic cohesive devices such as 'Firstly and foremost' and 'Secondly', which help to signal the structure. However, the progression of ideas is interrupted by the incomplete nature of the text. Paragraphing is attempted, but the second paragraph is left unfinished, which disrupts the logical flow. Referencing is sometimes unclear, such as in the phrase 'restrict use to bring extra snacks', where the intended meaning is slightly obscured. To achieve a higher band, ensure that each paragraph is fully developed and that transitions between sentences are smoother and more varied.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for basic communication but lacks the precision and variety required for higher bands. There are several spelling errors, such as 'theather', 'cruicial', 'todays', 'impotant', 'trendinf', and 'descipline'. Additionally, some word choices are awkward or non-standard, such as 'everything is modified' and 'comfort places'. While the range is sufficient to convey the basic topic, the frequent spelling mistakes and limited lexical range prevent a higher score. Focus on proofreading your work to correct spelling and aim to use more sophisticated collocations.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('majority of the people... believes', 'theatres and cinemas plays'), missing articles, and awkward phrasing ('theatres and cinemas still a good source'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with several run-on sentences that lack proper conjunctions or full stops. These errors occasionally make the text difficult to follow. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, subject-verb agreement, and the correct use of articles before attempting more complex grammatical structures.
