Student answer (Band 5.0)

Few individuals consider that in the modern age theaters and cinemas are no longer significant, as pupils can watch all the entertainment they want online. Some argue that threats and cinemas are still crucial both economically and culturally. This essay will discuss both views as far as I am concerned. I am in favor of the first notion. On the one hand, cinemas and theaters are not important nowadays because many people are using smartphones to watch videos, podcasts, and so many other things. This is convenient for everyone. For instance, people daily watch different websites, and this would be beneficial for all. Most people are doing jobs and some other work. Therefore, they don't have time to go to the cinema and theaters, so in online this is very beneficial for all people. In addition, they also save money if we go outside to watch something; we have to pay transport fare and also eat, so online entertainment is good for all. On the other hand, many people spent time with their family and friends, so cinema and theaters are significant. However, also change mind and reduce stress. For example, many people doing jobs and they dont spent time t=with family and friends so if they go outside and watch some movies so it couls be good for all

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, which significantly impacts the development of ideas. While you address both views and state your opinion, the arguments are underdeveloped and repetitive. For example, the points regarding convenience and cost are mentioned but not explored with sufficient depth or relevant examples. The conclusion is also missing, leaving the essay feeling incomplete. To improve, you must expand on your arguments with specific, illustrative examples and ensure you provide a clear, well-supported conclusion that summarizes your position.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the logical progression is weak. The use of cohesive devices is mechanical and sometimes inaccurate, such as the abrupt transition 'However, also change mind'. Referencing is occasionally unclear, making it difficult for the reader to follow the flow of your argument. The paragraphing is present but the ideas within the paragraphs lack a clear, cohesive structure. To improve, focus on using a wider range of linking words (e.g., 'furthermore', 'consequently', 'in contrast') and ensure that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence followed by supporting details.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is limited and repetitive. You rely on basic terms like 'important', 'good', and 'things' throughout the essay. There are also some word choice errors, such as using 'pupils' to refer to the general public and 'threats' instead of 'theatres'. While the meaning is generally clear, the lack of variety and precision prevents you from achieving a higher score. To improve, try to incorporate more topic-specific vocabulary related to entertainment, economics, and culture, and avoid repeating the same adjectives.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include 'many people doing jobs' (missing auxiliary verb), 'they dont spent time' (tense error), and 'in online this is very beneficial' (awkward phrasing). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with the use of commas. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement, correct verb tenses, and proofreading your work to eliminate basic errors that distract the reader from your message.
