Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses both sides of the argument and provides a clear personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. While you mention that cinemas provide cultural value, the explanation remains superficial and lacks specific examples or deeper analysis. The points regarding 'free resources' versus 'theatres taking charge' are relevant but could be expanded with more sophisticated reasoning. To improve, ensure that each body paragraph provides a well-developed argument that directly supports your thesis, rather than relying on repetitive phrasing about 'past enjoyment'. The task is addressed, but the depth of discussion is consistent with a lower band level.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate. For instance, phrases like 'Such as watching videos' (as a sentence fragment) and 'The reason they think... is that advancement on technology' show a lack of smooth transitions. Referencing is sometimes unclear, and the logical progression between sentences is occasionally interrupted by grammatical errors. To reach a higher band, focus on using a wider variety of linking words (e.g., 'consequently', 'furthermore', 'nevertheless') and ensure that your sentences flow logically from one to the next.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. You rely on repetitive phrasing, such as 'entertainment' and 'important', throughout the essay. There are also noticeable errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'economic all' and 'the cinemas are still has enjoyment'. While the meaning is generally clear, the lack of sophisticated vocabulary and the presence of word-form errors limit the score. To improve, try to incorporate more topic-specific collocations related to the film industry and cultural heritage, and pay closer attention to word forms.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the flow of reading. Common issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'cinemas are still has enjoyment'), incorrect article usage ('in digital world'), and awkward phrasing ('theatres and cinemas are still play vital role'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with some sentences starting with lowercase letters or being fragmented. While you attempt complex sentences, the high frequency of errors in basic grammar prevents a higher score. Focus on mastering subject-verb agreement and consistent tense usage to improve accuracy.
