Student answer (Band 6.5)
There is an argue about theater and cinemas, whether they are necessary for people or not, since they can watch any type of entertainment online because of the development of technology. In my opinion, those kinds of places still important for people, although advancement of online entertainment.
On the one hand, some believe online platforms offer greater convenience and accessibility. Individuals can watch films, shows and other entertainment whenever and wherever they want, without commuting to a cinema or theatre. It means such platforms are more practical for modern lifestyles. Another potential reason for this idea is that streaming services provide thousands of films and shows at relatively low prices. People have more choices than they would in a single cinema or theatre. Consequently, online entertainment offers better value for money.
On the other hand, other including myself support the believe that cinemas and theatres play crucial role in people's lives while they create jobs and generate income. They can also attract customers to nearby restaurants, cafes and shops and directly contribute to the local economy. Furthermore, theatres preserve performing arts and cultural traditions, while cinemas provide a shared experience. I believe, watching a performance or film with an audience creates social interaction and a stronger sense of community. Therefore, these venues provide benefits that online entertainment cannot fully replace.
In conclusion, although online entertainment offers greater convenience, affordability and variety, I believe that theatres and cinemas remain important because of their economic contribution and cultural and social value. Hence, digital platforms should be viewed as an alternative rather than a complete replacement for traditional entertainment venues.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses all parts of the prompt, discussing both views and providing a clear personal opinion. The ideas are relevant and logically extended, such as the economic benefits of physical venues and the convenience of streaming. The position is consistent throughout the essay. To reach a higher band, the student could provide more specific examples—for instance, mentioning how a local cinema supports a specific type of community event or citing a real-world trend in theatre attendance—to further develop the arguments beyond general statements.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is used effectively to separate the two opposing viewpoints. Cohesive devices such as 'On the one hand', 'Another potential reason', 'Furthermore', and 'In conclusion' are used appropriately to guide the reader through the argument. The progression of ideas is smooth and easy to follow. The use of referencing is generally clear, though some minor improvements in the flow between sentences could make the transitions feel even more natural.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is sufficient to convey the intended meaning with some precision. The student uses topic-specific terms like 'streaming services', 'performing arts', and 'local economy'. However, there are some minor errors in word choice and form, such as 'There is an argue' (should be 'argument') and 'support the believe' (should be 'belief'). While the range is adequate for the task, incorporating more sophisticated collocations or less common vocabulary would help elevate the score to the next level.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The student demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. Most sentences are clear, and communication is not impeded by the errors present. There are some grammatical slips, such as 'those kinds of places still important' (missing the verb 'are') and 'other including myself' (should be 'others'). Punctuation is generally accurate. To improve, the student should focus on subject-verb agreement and ensuring that all clauses have a main verb, as well as refining the use of articles and pluralization.
